Genesis Online Year-End Video 2022

Our grade 9 students enjoyed spending time and having open conversations with our Division Chaplain, Father Glenn! It is always such a wonderful time getting to learn from him through questions and dialogue, allowing us to further connect in our faith! 🙏

We are SO thankful to have had author Marty Chan work with each grade level throughout the last little while! Marty brings literacy alive with his creativity and contagious excitement! Thank you Marty for spending time with us and helping us further recognize the author in all of us!

Some of our grade 2s invited a professor from Concordia University, Dr. Simmee Chung to share her personal experiences and stories connecting to her Asian heritage.

Dr. Chung read Eyes that Kiss in the Corners. She resonates closely with this book noting that we’re all created beautifully.

She told stories of when her parents immigrated from Hong Kong to Europe where she was born. Then from Europe she moved to Canada when she was in kindergarten. She talked about the hardships of being the new person in a new country and how she was the only Chinese person in her class in the past.

She told us to use our big brave beautiful voices to celebrate our identities and to learn about and appreciate our own cultures and others too! hool

🏐 Just in time for our Genesis Sports Day yesterday, our jerseys were delivered for our sports teams next year!! 🏀 Staff were excited to show these off as we are all looking forward to cheering on our Genesis Griffons! ⚽️ We can’t wait to have students from both our Pure Online & our Blended Program take part! 🏸

Students have enjoyed reflecting on why they love our Catholic school this week!

Some of our gr. 2s wrote letters to Pope Francis after being inspired by the book, "Dear Pope Francis." 💌 Students were so excited to hear that David received a letter directly from the office of Pope Francis! How amazing and exciting for David, his peers and our community! For those that don't know - Pope Francis is the inspiration behind our Charism, "We are the now of God!" ⛪ Such an exciting moment and wonderful connection to World Catholic Education Day! 👏

Every year, 40 days after Easter on Ascension Thursday, Catholics across the globe give thanks for the gift of Catholic education through the celebration of World Catholic Education Day. Catholic education has served nations for centuries by teaching students about their faith. World Catholic Education Day is a time for Catholics around the world to take a moment to pause, reflect and pray on the gift that is Catholic education.
