๐ฌ E2 Summer Meetup #2 - Movie Night! ๐ฟ
We'd love for you to join us for our second E2 summer meetup!
๐
Tuesday, August 11
๐ 6:10 p.m.
๐ Sherwood Park Cineplex
We'll be watching Spider-Man at the 6:10 p.m. showing, but there are several movies playing that evening, so feel free to choose whichever one is the best fit for your family. The goal is simply to spend some time together and enjoy a fun evening with our E2 community.
A few quick reminders:
๐๏ธ Tuesday is Cineplex's discount movie day, so we encourage families to purchase tickets in advance if possible.
๐๏ธ Cineplex accepts the Access 2 Card.
๐๏ธ Discounted tickets may also be available through Costco and AMA memberships.
As always, this is a casual, optional get-together, and families are responsible for supervising their own children throughout the evening.
If you think you'll be joining us, we'd appreciate a quick comment or message so we know who to look for.
We hope to see you there! ๐ฟ๐ธ๏ธ

We are heartbroken to learn of Parker Wellsโ passing, and we are thinking of his family, loved ones, and community.
For many families in the E2 community, Parkerโs story hits painfully close to home. We know children who may run when overwhelmed, hide when frightened, or communicate in different ways. These behaviours are not defiance, and they are not a reflection of how deeply a child is loved or cared for. His story is a reminder of how urgently our communities and systems must work to better understand and respond to the individual ways children experience the world.
We want to acknowledge the extraordinary efforts of Parkerโs family, search teams, first responders, volunteers, and the many people who refused to give up hope.
We are thinking, too, of every child and family who has been deeply affected by Parkerโs story, particularly those who understand how quickly a frightening situation can unfold.
Parker mattered. His life mattered. He deserved safety, dignity, understanding, and the chance to grow up surrounded by the love that was so clearly there for him.
If you need resources to help you discuss this with your family, these may be helpful.

When a vulnerable child goes missing, silence shouldn't be the default.
Alberta's emergency alert system was built for abductions. It wasn't built for a non-verbal autistic child who wanders off with no one able to explain where they went. We're asking the province to close that gap with an Indigo Alert. Please sign the petition.
Indigo Alert Alberta โ Close the Gap in Alberta's Emergency Alert System
Alberta's Amber Alert only triggers on suspected abduction. A non-verbal autistic child who wanders isn't covered. Sign the petition and email your MLA to help create an Indigo Alert.

Just a friendly reminder that our E2 Family Summer Meet-Up is happening this Friday, July 24, starting at 3:00 p.m. at Terwillegar Recreation Centre!
Whether you'd like to go swimming, visit the indoor playground, use the recreation facilities, or simply enjoy a coffee and chat in the lobby, we'd love to see you there. Feel free to arrive whenever you can after 3:00 p.m. and stay for as long as you'd like.
As a reminder:
- This is an informal family meet-up.
- Families are responsible for admission costs and for supervising their own child(ren).
- All City of Edmonton recreation centres accept Access 2 passes and admit support persons free of charge when required.
If you think you'll be joining us, please let us know at [email protected]. This isn't mandatory - it will just give us a rough idea of how many families to expect.
If you have an idea for a future summer meet-up, you're welcome to send the details to Wendy at [email protected], and she'll happily share it with the E2 family distribution list.

๐ A transportation resource for our families!
Recently, Rianna and Wendy had the opportunity to meet with the CEO of K-Go, a children's transportation company preparing to launch in Edmonton.
We had a great conversation about the unique transportation needs of neurodivergent students, including the importance of consistency, familiar drivers, and supporting anxiety and regulation during school transitions. We were encouraged by their experience and commitment to supporting families like ours.
If this sounds like something that could benefit your family, we encourage you to join the K-Go Edmonton waitlist to receive updates as they prepare to launch.
We're always happy to explore resources and partnerships that help make our school community more accessible. https://drivekgo.ca/edmonton/

As famous mental health advocate and rock-and-roller Alice Cooper once said, "School's Out for Summer!" โ๏ธ๐ธ
But before we officially wrapped up the year, we had our school-wide year-end gathering today at Hawrelak Park, and it was a fantastic day!
The sun was shining, our students enjoyed painted tattoos from Art with Michi, there was plenty of fun at the playground, some football, lots of laughs, and great conversations.
Thank you to all of our families, students, and staff who joined us. It was a wonderful way to celebrate another amazing year together at E2 Academy.
Have a safe, fun, and relaxing summer everyone!
Stay tuned for some E2 Summer Get Together details...
