West Henday has been filled with so much excitement lately 🐣💛

After patiently waiting 21 days, our chick eggs finally began to hatch as part of our animal study! The children watched in awe as the tiny cracks appeared, and before long, we welcomed our fluffy new chicks into the world.

This experience brought so much joy, curiosity, and learning. The children have been so gentle, caring, and engaged—asking questions, observing closely, and forming such a sweet connection with our new little friends.

Moments like these are what make learning truly come alive ✨

To kick off our animal study at West Henday, we started something pretty special.. incubating chicken eggs 🐣

Over the past few weeks, the children have been learning all about how chicks grow inside the egg. We kept the eggs warm and gently turned them each day, just like a mother hen would. After patiently waiting 21 days… the moment finally arrived!

Our very first two chicks have hatched! 🎉 The excitement in the room was unforgettable. Lots of wide eyes, big smiles, and curious little learners getting to witness it all in real life.

This is just the beginning, and we can’t wait to share more of these sweet moments with you. More cute pictures coming soon 💛

Our little construction crew has been hard at work in our dramatic play area! From building and fixing to creating and imagining, the children are exploring all things construction during our study. 🛠️

It’s amazing to see their teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving skills come to life as they take on the roles of builders, engineers, and safety inspectors.

We may be “under construction,” but the learning never stops at West Henday! 💛

We had such a wonderful time celebrating with our families! 💚 Our “Leprechaun Fizz” was a hit, and it was so special connecting with everyone during pick-up while sharing a little festive treat.

Construction at BrightPath West Henday! 🏗️

This month, our children are exploring construction, building more than just towers! Through hands-on play, they’re developing early math, problem-solving, teamwork, and fine motor skills while learning resilience and creativity along the way.

✨ Hello February! ✨

A new month means a brand-new adventure at BrightPath West Henday, and we’re kicking it off with our Transportation Study!

Throughout February, our children will be exploring all the ways we move from place to place, from cars, buses, and trains to bikes, planes, and everything in between. Through hands-on provocations, play-based learning, and meaningful conversations, the children will investigate how transportation helps connect our world.

This study encourages curiosity, problem-solving, creativity, and collaboration as children design, build, role-play, and ask BIG questions about the world around them. We can’t wait to see where their learning takes us!

National Puzzle Day at West Henday! 🧩🐝

Puzzles play an important role in early learning by supporting problem-solving, critical thinking, fine motor development, and perseverance. They also encourage collaboration and communication as children work together.

We love taking opportunities like this to extend learning throughout our centre. By decorating our space and creating interactive activities in our entryway, we help bring our community together and create an inviting environment where learning and play connect.

Celebrating International LEGO Day at West Henday!

Building isn’t just play, it’s learning in action. LEGO helps develop creativity, problem-solving, fine motor skills, and teamwork, all while having fun.

We love watching little minds build big ideas, one brick at a time! 💛

As a director, one of my favourite moments of the day is walking through the classrooms and seeing the incredible provocations thoughtfully set up for the children.

These provocations aren’t just “activities”, they are intentional invitations to explore, question, create, and think. They spark curiosity, encourage problem-solving, and allow children to take ownership of their learning through hands-on, meaningful engagement.

When educators actively engage with children during these moments, learning deepens. Conversations grow, ideas expand, and children feel seen, supported, and valued.

I am so proud of our educators for the care, creativity, and purpose they bring into their classrooms every single day. The learning environments they create truly reflect their dedication to each child’s growth and development. 🌱✨
