Recognizing the signs of human trafficking
Someone might be a victim of human trafficking if they:

are in a new relationship and are treated like a prince or princess
need to regularly check in with someone via cell phone or text
change in physical appearance (such as having hair and nails done)
receive expensive gifts for no reason
start wearing new clothing, lingerie, designer shoes and handbags
withdraw from family and friends
not in control of their personal documents (driver's licence, passport, etc.) or money
started a job that sounds too good to be true
It's possible that victims might not recognize they've been recruited into human trafficking and are now in a dangerous situation.

Police issue composite sketch of s*x assault suspect: The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) is seeking the public’s assistance identifying a suspect in a stranger s*xual assault against a woman in Mill Creek Ravine Dec. 10.

Investigators are releasing a composite sketch of the suspect today in hopes that members of the public may be able to identify him (see below).

The suspect is described as a white male about 50 years old standing 5’10” tall with a medium build and white hair with dark streaks on the side. He was reportedly wearing a black zip-up puffer jacket, light blue jeans and running shoes, black and white in colour.

Background

At approximately 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 10, a 33-year-old woman was out for a walk in the ravine east of the area near 95 Street and 86 Avenue. A male who was standing just off the path approached her, grabbed her and pinned her to a nearby tree, and s*xually assaulted her.

The woman was eventually able to escape back to the “Peace Mile” parking lot located north of 82 Avenue and 95A Street. She reported the assault took place approximately one kilometre north of the parking lot.
