š§ŗš°ļø A Step Back in Time! š°ļøš§ŗ
Today, our curious little explorers took a journey into the past at the Beverly History Interpretive Centre, where they learned all about the history of Olde Town Beverly and life in the 1930s!
The children had a hands-on experience washing and drying socks the old-fashioned wayāwith a washboard and manual wringer! It was a fun and eye-opening activity that helped them understand just how different daily life was nearly a century ago.
And hereās a fun fact we discoveredāMark Messier practiced in the very same hockey rink connected to the centre! šš„
We love giving our kids opportunities to connect with local history in fun, interactive ways. Big thanks to the centre staff for such a memorable experience!

Our job as educators is to co-construct curriculum meaning making as co-learners, co-researchers, and co-imaginers of possibilities. Our role as educators is to strengthen our childrenās dispositions to learn through our responsive environments and our image of the child as mighty learners! We make an intentional effort to focus on the whole child and by focusing on their dispositions to learn we begin to value the diverse ways that they engage with each other, ideas, materials, and the world.

EARLY MOMENTS MATTER š¶
āThe foundations for virtually every aspect of human development ā physical, intellectual and emotional ā are laid in early childhood. What happens during these early years (starting in the womb) has lifelong effects on many aspects of health and well-being ā from obesity, heart disease and mental health to educational achievement and economic status.ā
(Michael Marmot, 2010)
The months and years from pregnancy until a child begins school are a period of unprecedented growth and development and quite possibly, the most crucial because they have life-long impact. These early years set the foundations for competencies and abilities that enable a child to thrive throughout life; including our ability to learn, be healthy, form lasting relationships, cope with adversity, problem solve, control impulses and manage emotions.
And whatās more, these basic skills form the foundation for more sophisticated skills as children grow older, supporting further learning and development, and setting children up to make healthy choices for themselves and for their families in the future. Early childhood development outcomes and experiences have been well-evidenced as predictors of childhood and adult outcomes across physical, mental health and educational attainment.
Thatās why the role of early education and care is so important - it has been shown to positively influence childrenās future outcomes, including their wellbeing and includes the capacity of the child to form close relationships, manage and express emotions including āemotional self- regulationā, and learn from the environment around them.

Our mighty learners experience open and flexible environments where playful exploration, problem solving and creativity are encouraged and purposefully planned! During our Alberta deep freeze our children are exploring this sensory play in the snow and learning about whether their bodies feel hot or cold!

Our educators value the importance of play in our childrenās lives because their active engagement in learning is demonstrated through their creativity, problem solving, playfulness and imagination!

We cannot overstate the importance of sensory play as it builds the foundation for all skills needed for school readiness and for the rest of their life! Our mighty learners, learn through play, as these sensory experiences help stimulate all their senses. Exploring these pumpkins encourages the children to develop motor skills, support language development, observe the size, shape, and colour, while also encouraging them to be creative and not wasteful as we use the pumpkin for different things!

Our educators nurture each childās identity as a mighty learner and value the importance of play in their lives! They have been providing the children with provocations to allow the children to learn about the different properties of objects through playful exploration and investigation. These specific provocations are also so important in helping the children develop those little muscles in their hands! (Fine motor skills!)
