Today is National Indigenous Peoples Day.

For more than 20 years, Trade Winds to Success has been part of the fabric of Alberta’s Indigenous community — walking alongside people as they build careers, find their footing, and step into their potential.

Today we honour the communities, the Elders, the families, and the individuals who make that journey possible. And we celebrate every person who has come through our doors and gone on to build something they’re proud of.

Happy National Indigenous Peoples Day.

A special shout-out to River Cree Resort & Casino for generously donating their Saskatoon Berry Sparkling Water for our guests to enjoy.

Partnerships like these help bring our community together and make initiatives like this a success.

A Premiere Worth Remembering.

Yesterday, we gathered for the premiere of See the Skill. Not Bias. — and what unfolded was bigger than a film screening.

We heard powerful stories from Indigenous tradespeople who shared their experiences with honesty, courage, and pride. We watched conversations take shape between industry leaders, employers, advocates, allies, and community members committed to creating change. We experienced incredible cultural performances, meaningful connections, and a shared commitment to challenging the bias that continues to exist in the skilled trades.

Thank you to our incredible alumni for making this documentary series possible, Curtis Kematch, Carmen Maurice, Todd A. Pruden and Cheyenne Day Chief.
And to Paul Gantar of Stanley Construction Ltd. for sharing as an employer partner of Trade Winds.

These stories you will hear during this campaign are not exceptional cases. They are the rule.

With grateful thanks to City of Edmonton - Local Government for making this campaign possible, and to Octo Mechanical Inc., Lorneville, and Strike Group for supporting tonight’s launch.

Checking in with our Sheet Metal crew!

The students started at the Sheet Metal Union last week, getting the chance to roll up their sleeves and experience the trade hands-on. From learning to understand the layout to shaping the metal for their projects, we can't wait to see what they create.

The Residential Construction students have began their journey in the program this week. We could not have done it without the support from Eagle Healing, bringing culture, connection and a healing space for this amazing group of learners.

We look forward to the progress you make, the skills you gain and the apprenticeships you begin.
