🚑 Education and Connection in Emergency Health Services

Today, Paramedic Programs in NAIT’s School of Health and Life Sciences hosted our annual Paramedic Industry-Student Engagement Event, connecting students from the EMR, P*P, and ACP programs with Paramedic Service Partners from across Western Canada.

🏆 Congratulations to the Winners of the research poster contest with their poster comparing Epinephrine use and the Neurological Outcomes in patients who experienced an Out of Hospital Cardiac Arrest 👏

🙌 A sincere thanks to our keynote speaker, Dr. Michael Corman, our dedicated industry partners, and our students for their incredible engagement. Together, we’re strengthening the connection between Paramedic Education and our essential Paramedic Workforce.

On Thursday March 26, it was the 4th annual NAIT MRT Student Clinical Audit and Quality Improvement Showcase, filled with lots of great sharing, learning and appreciation. 57 additional guests attended online from the junior class and rural sites.

The winners were:

1st Place - Safety Heroes Polish Not Perish, Operation Clean (door k**b disinfecting, greatest impact)
2nd Place - Influencing Change Heroes Degrees of Success (retrospective, annotation of clavicle angulation- 1st time in rural, large impact)
3rd Place - Increasing Efficiencies Heroes Cardiac Leads on Mobile CXR

Meet the NAIT Biomed team, including Michael, Moriah, and Prem. This small but mighty team maintains over 2500 pieces of medical equipment across 19 departments at NAIT. And all three staff are ! Today, they hosted a show and share in their shop where staff applied experiential learning techniques with a surgical tool and a banana among other tools.

Today during a collaboration with NAIT SHLS, AHS eSIM Provincial Simulation Program, Odyssey Medical, and Mass Gathering Medicine Calgary, Healthcare professionals, trainees, and event medical providers were invited to participate in a unique interprofessional rave medicine simulation experience.

Here the Veterinary Medical Assisting students are preparing for their live equine and bovine labs in week 9!

Today we celebrate the leadership of our Dean, Terry Schlitter, and the many contributions she brings to the School of Health and Life Sciences at NAIT.
Terry’s leadership continues to inspire innovation, collaboration, and a strong commitment to student success across our programs. Through her vision and support, our school continues to grow as a community where learners, educators, and health professionals work together to shape the future of health care.
On International Women’s Day, we recognize and celebrate Terry and the many women leaders who are making a meaningful impact in health education and beyond.
