Children aren’t done with Autumn leaves just yet. When we’re out for school dropped off in the morning, children noticed a lot of leaves that have fallen on the ground. I told them it rained and the wind was so strong the other night.

We have picked up a lot more leaves and what else can we do with it?

“Mia, I want marker please,” child L asked politely as we head home.

Then I thought, sure let’s have leaves and markers.

Went out for our morning nature walk. Head to the field with our leaves and markers. Sat down and the children started to color the leaves we have.

“Maria, look this is big,” child A said.

“Woah, look at that. It’s bigger than your face,” I replied.

We also talked about how trees are important along with their leaves. We say thank you to the leaves and trees for giving us a colorful surroundings and helping our animal friends to have their home.

Children learning to appreciate the world around them.

We love open-ended materials like these big boxes. Creative imagination and ideas are at work.

Who would have thought these plungers have a lot of great use. These sparks so many ideas and creative imagination from the children. From pretending it to be a witch’s broom, to a telephone, a hat and more. Children’s strength was also tested as they try to pull it out from being stuck on the floor. Finding ways how they can easily pull it.

Every Child Matter” - Phyllis Webstad

We celebrated National Day for Truth and Reconciliation according to the level of understanding of the children in my care and to their interests with rocks, paintings and making a dough.

It was a fruitful and meaningful morning for us.

We found a bridge and a flowing water.
We saw more migrating birds.
