What is it really like to work as an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer?

Our Aircraft Service Technician learners recently had the opportunity to hear from Carina, an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) with Air Canada in Vancouver.

Carina shared her career journey, offered valuable insights into the day-to-day realities of working as an AME, and answered learners’ questions about the profession. From training and certifications to hands-on experience in the industry, Carina offered valuable insights and inspiration for those preparing to launch their own aviation careers. Hearing firsthand experiences from industry professionals helps bring the classroom to life and gives learners a clearer picture of the exciting opportunities that await them.

Delivered by Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED) approved examiners, you can choose between the ROC-A Examination only, or opt for the Preparation + Examination session that includes instructor-led preparation prior to the exam.

Two special youth BASIC cohorts have just completed their final day! Congratulations to our graduates. 🎓

In partnership with CAREERS: The Next Generation (CAREERS) and Alberta Aviation, Aerospace & Defence Council (Alberta Aviation Aerospace & Defence), this specialized offering is slightly different than our regular BASIC program. This experience was designed specifically for youth ages 18-25, with one cohort in Edmonton and one in Calgary.

After 5 weeks, these learners are departing with a newfound knowledge about the aviation industry, including the various career paths available, the skills required for industry roles and job searching, important certifications, and more.

Matthew is a former AST learner and returned to the learning centre to speak with our current AST cohort! He embraced every opportunity during his time with us before moving into the aviation industry as a Furnishings Technician with Nolinor Aviation.
