Sankalpa is the Sanskrit word for intention. Taking the time to put intention behind action leads to situations turning out how you intend them to!
The thing I intended to happen, happens.
It's always a good idea to pick one or two to work with for a period of time. Mine include: contentment & patience, currently. My dad was very impatient and that’s something I got from him.
The Sankalpa is an anchor. Sometimes we can get lost in our thoughts, moving into the past and future. Our Sankalpa, together with our breath, creates an anchor into the present moment.

"Run to the rescue with love, and peace will follow."
No matter what is happening. If you are going to help someone, do it in a loving intention and with compassion – and the outcome will be peaceful. 🙏❤

The path of knowledge through self-study. How do you study the self?
For me, the only time I’m fully confident in this is when I’m at the end of a practice and I've just sat with myself for an hour. With this clarity and confidence, I can move forward with contentment knowing that the choices I'm making are the correct ones.

My first yoga teacher would say: We do our practice to get to know ourselves better.
At first I didn’t understand. But now I see that observing myself while doing the yoga practice, is mimicking life and all of it’s uncertainties and difficulties that can arise.
In that way, I meet myself everything I step onto the mat.

I wrote this after my worst breakup.
In this moment I had just come from a moment of not wanting to be held down by the heavy feelings of grief.
It’s really easy to sit at home and wallow. Which is fine but if you do it too many days in a row, things can begin to add up.... not a good long-term operating system.
There needs to be moments of mourning but if you sit too long, life will keep piling up and it will get harder to deal with. Whether it is the gym or grocery shopping.
The small things add up. The small goals accomplish bigs goals.
If you've been sitting in your grief, I see you. But I am here to remind you, it's the small things that add up. Make your bed, have a tea/coffee, grocery shop, get on your mat. You've got this. ❤
