These wreaths are made with repurposed fishing rope, bait bags and shells!

There are a few holidays around the corner! So I wanted to show you a few wreaths that were made by local artisan Brigit. Some of the shells were donated to us as well. All are available for purchase and are one of a kind! 💙 I am a big fan of the yellow wreath with a bait bag over top. (I might have to keep it!)

Thank you to everyone who joined us this evening for Waste Diversion Wednesday! ❤️

We were able to tackle most of the screw infested lobster traps runners, sort and divert multiple bags of marine debris and even sent a few folks home with buoys! We had an artist stop by to shop for reclaimed rope and we loaded the truck for the recycling run to Sustane Technologies tomorrow!

We achieved so much in just a couple hours! Now it's time for me to get a good night's sleep because it's market day tomorrow at the Lunenburg Farmers Market 💙

I need to give a shoutout to Baffin for sending us over a few pairs of boots to support our team on the coast!

If you’ve followed me for any length of time, you know I’m not one to just jump on the influencer train or promote gear (or even shiny things) just for the sake of it or to get it for free. Also - Baffin didn’t ask for this post, nor did they require it. They just stepped up as a Canadian company wanting to support boots-on-the-ground shoreline cleanup work. 💙 A truly Canadian thing to do, EH? 🍁

That said, when gear actually holds up to what we do, it deserves a spotlight. I put these boots through the ringer over the last while:

🌊 Rugged Coastal Terrain: Trekking through the rocky shores, islands, driftwood patches and slick tidal zones of Canada's Ocean Playground.
🌊 Heavy Cleanup Duty: Snags, hauling, and cut-testing during heavy lobster trap removals.
🌊 Yard Work & PPE: Daily sorting, moving supersacks, and general yard prep where reliable foot safety is not negotiable.

My new boots have been nothing short of fantastic! They are durable, comfortable, and tough enough for the Maritime coastline. Huge thanks to Baffin for equipping a few members of our team with proper gear to keep us going! 🙌 (Feel free to send more!)

Spaces are FULL for this evening! ♻️

I am excited to invite more people into the world of marine debris diversion. Just 5 years ago, we were throwing most everything into the landfill! (Except tires of course! Divert NS ) Together, we have come up with ways to reuse, recycle and repurpose most of what we find washing ashore in

Our diversion crew consists of many local artisans, micro-recyclers, advanced recyclers, metal scrappers, happy sorters, municipal folks and we even use a few provincial programs help keep our materials out of the landfill. It 100% takes a community. Our workyard space is also donated ❤️ (Thank you Erin!!!)

How long did this need to be underwater for the plant life to grow on it? It was washed ashore on McNabs Island during our clean up with Propeller Brewing Company and I just think it is SO COOL. 😎

We find as the weather turns cold, older items that seem to have sat on the ocean bottom appear on shore. ESPECIALLY in the Bay of Fundy. Is it upwelling of water maybe? Some natural phenomenon? Someone please explain?!

These are whale tail neckaces made by Golden Kitty Jewellery• Real Flower Jewellery . She is local artisan who started with us almost a year ago now! Deanna usually works with handpicked, flowers, but she couldn't resist the bright colors of our marine debris and started creating beautiful things! ❤️ Now she makes us earrings, rings, necklaces and so much more. The color combos are incredible. Who knew garbage could be so pretty?!

These necklaces will always be my absolute favorite though ❤️ I do LOVE whales 🐋

We might not get support from Fisheries and Oceans Canada , but local support makes all the difference! 🙌

A huge thank you to MLA David Bowlby and his wife, Allison, who have been coming out to our Annapolis and Kings County shoreline cleanups for years. Even with a busy schedule in office, David still makes time to show up for our coastlines!

This past weekend, they presented us with a $500 check to support our cleanup initiatives through advertising. We are so thankful for their continued hands-on support and financial contribution! 🌊✨

A huge shout-out to Scotian Shores for their phenomenal efforts over the May long weekend! With staff and volunteers traveling from all over Nova Scotia—including some incredibly dedicated locals—over 4,500 pounds of debris was successfully removed from our coastlines.

As if that wasn't enough, the crew then came directly to Parrsboro to haul an additional 800 pounds of abandoned tires right out of the harbor! We are endlessly grateful to this passionate team and the Ocean Warriors who work tirelessly to protect our shorelines and marine ecosystems. While we hope for a future where this kind of work is no longer necessary, we are deeply thankful for their dedication today.

The best part? Some of this collected debris is going to be utilized directly in our upcoming Debris to Design project!

As you explore our coastlines and trails this spring, keep an eye out for unique beachcombed items and human debris. Start thinking about how you can transform what you find into an extraordinary piece of conservation art.

As part of our Debris to Design stewardship initiative, we will be hosting two upcoming workshops:

Monday, July 6 at 6:30 PM: Located at the newly renovated Three Sisters Centre in Eatonville, NS. This session is geared mostly towards adults, though children are welcome.

Tuesday, July 7 at 2:30 PM: Located at the Art Lab in Parrsboro, NS. This session is geared towards families with child-friendly projects, but is open to all.

Join our community-driven stewards, get hands-on, and help us protect the coast. Your creations will be on full display at our big community showcase on August 1st!

Found debris will be provided at both workshops, though participants are highly encouraged to bring along their own collected, clean debris. These workshops are being offered completely free of charge. Space is limited, so please secure your spot for either (or both) sessions by emailing [email protected] to receive the registration link.
