Bored? Give this a try! All you have to do is pick up the tempo on any given combination until your envelope collapses. Warning: Builds humilty, perseverance, character, and Drummers! Additional side effects include increased hand-eye coordination (leading toward ambidexterity), pattern recognition, and friends with strange haircuts.

Saugeen Music School is located within "Studio A" at 225 Garafraxa St. N in Durham, On- exactly where the Saugeen River crosses Highway 6. We're looking forward to re-opening after the latest round of Covid restrictions. We'll start with one-on-one instruction, followed by band classes when the green light is lit. We give musical instruction on several instruments, and have enjoyed working with students, advanced amateurs and pro's in our small but effective Project Studio. Call 519-901-2951, or text Lindon directly at 519-830-2574.

The new sign arrived this week! All sessions are currently virtual, but we are looking forward to re-opening!

Do you like old school R&B? I mean, is it in your bones, and does it need to get out? Stax Records, anyone? Jump Blues? Martha And The Vandellas? We're grouping trios in an hourly lesson format, so that we might combine sections down the road. Guitar, bass, and drums will learn as one; horns will squawk together during another daytime session! Private instruction is available in order to lever you into your swing seat! Gift Certificates available for the post holiday crew. Get that boogie feelin' today!

Q: What is missing from this picture? A: Musicians!

Saugeen Music School is planning a March 1st re-opening. If you are interested or would like to continue to learn to play guitar, bass, drums, piano, violin, cello- lessons will be available through Lindon and Grace. Lessons on voice, woodwinds, band classes, etc are still on a holding pattern due to Covid 19 protocols, though it definitely feels like our full compliment of lessons may be offered by this summer. Here's hoping!

CONTACT: You may contact me directly via my cell (519-839-2574), the Studio A general inquiry phone number (519-901-2951), or respond here. Grace may be reached directly at 519-313-1486. (Facebook messages seem to take an eternity to filter through the SMS page, and we suggest phoning us!)

"Studio A" is the home of Saugeen Music School, April Barker Fitness, and Spirit Rock Records. We are located at 225 Garafraxa St. N, Durham, On. N0G1R0. Have a great day! Lindon

Happy 2021 Everyone! Christmas came early to Saugeen Music School this fall when Mr.
David Brown, formerly of Mississauga, followed through on his exciting promise to further our musical cause with two fine instruments. I have posted previously regarding the sweet 1955 Noblet Bb Clarinet (still in the shop), and today I am happy to report Mr. Brown's magnanimous delivery (within days of Christmas!) of a magnificent 1953 SML Tenor Sax.

This sought-after model (Blues, Jazz, R&B professionals) won the Parisian Exhibition (1953), and has been been well-cared for. It is in great shape almost 70 years later. Kids- be like Mr. Brown- take care of your instruments! (It is much easier to play if the pads and tenons haven't rotted away!)

Those whom are aware of April's skill on the C Flute won't be surprized to hear that she has been getting a nice tone from this lovely old horn. We hope to offer lessons later this year on Clarinet and Saxophone (when lifts the cloud Covid), along with our standard platter of Flute, Violin, Cello, Piano, Voice, Guitar, Mandolin, Bass, Ukulele, Drums, and Project Studio Production Classes.

In the meantime, the latest shutdown means no in-person lessons until late January. I will be taking on a limited number of students for lessons via FB Video. Please text or phone my cell: 519-830-2574; should you be interested in this opportunity. Thanks! Be safe. See you soon! Lindon

The first instrument I took lessons on was the Bb Clarinet during the Summer Of Love in Burlington, Ontario. I was 8 years old and had lost the battle for a drum kit. None-the-less, wide-eared wonder was the order of the day as Mr. Elgin Corlett managed to coax the occasional sweet note from my breath. He had been the music man in Burlington since long before I was born, and I was fortunate to catch him before he retired. He was followed by Mr Ford as Director of the Burlington Teen Tour Band. Far from being a prodigy, I would drill with The Peanut Band on Saturday mornings, the minor league feeder ensemble to the star act our town's marching band had become. The Band Class idea has been with me for a very long time. Recently I was gifted this lovely old Noble Bb Clarinet (mid- 1950's) by Mr. David Brown, formerly of Mississauga, On. Thank you Sir! I'll be sending it off for some needed Tender Loving Cork and plan once more to track down a sweet note or two. We're not yet allowed to teach wind instruments due to Covid, but when back to full steam, I hope to pass along those Peanut Band favourites. Stay tuned, people!

We've had a number of enquiries with regard to opening up again, and it sure is nice to see the interest! Thanks for the kind words all-around. Though we remain restricted from teaching in our studio due to Covid guidelines, we're giving the place a much needed facelift, and look forward to seeing you all return when our health experts deem it adviseable.

So what did you do this Covid? Have you keep at it? Strummed away until the changes were slick as butter? Did you fiinally crack the "Day Tripper" riff? What about that snakey shakey groove in "Just A Little"? Can anyone stand tall and play the guitar break in "Carol"? What about "The Last Time"? Hey- tell you what- any bass players out there that can deliver The Animals "We Gotta To Get Outta This Place" just earned a 20% discount off their next set of lessons! Who says music doesn't pay? Hint: Start working on it, and text me when you are stuck. Be good and we'll catch you on the flip side!

Hey folks, we'll be aiming for online lessons next week, so keep practicing! You may contact me through email at [email protected], call ot text my private number or message me on Facebook for details. You may also leave a message at 519-901-2951. I'll be checking the SMS page for messages, though it tends to lag behind my Lindon Stone FB account. Thanks for your understanding during this brave new world!

Just a reminder to one and all that there is no return on money invested in the first four lessons. We ask the lessons to be paid in advance because you are booking time slots that we can not re-book if you choose to no-show the lesson(s). Bullying us over the phone months after the fact, and then claiming we're rude when you talk over our response (after putting us on hold to deal with a customer- calling us from a phone room perhaps) does not set a tone for courtesy. Threatening to slander us and then hanging up before we can respond is also a poor choice. Having said that, Summer Lessons are on in Durham- great fun- but you have to show up!
