As we round the corner into August and begin to turn our attention towards ordering labels and the next size up on socks and underwear, we recognize that the school year will be upon us in mere moments.

At Edge Hill Country School, our community is woven into a much larger story — one rooted in history, purpose, and care.

Located just outside Durham, Edge Hill began as a rural stone schoolhouse in 1872. In 1986, a dedicated group of parents revived it with a new vision: to bring the rich, holistic Waldorf approach to education to Grey County.

Today, that spirit lives on — in the joyful play of children across ages, in hands-on learning guided by skilled teachers, and in a close-knit community of families who value imagination, rhythm, and real connection.

We hope you'll join us to celebrate the school's 40th anniversary on August 29th @ 1pm for a Homecoming featuring an open house, displays of photos from over the years, a chance to do some art and a BBQ. Open to all past, present and future families of Edge Hill Country School.
Can't make it? Not to worry! Keep an eye out for community events and festivals open to all throughout the year celebrating this milestone.

Fridays at Edge Hill Country School are a little something special. Is your child ready to do some learning outside the classroom?
Rain, shine and everything in between, our "Field and Forest Friday" program officially open for Fall and Winter registrations.
Created as an outdoor program open to students K-8, Ms Courtney leads children in a day of exploration, education and creative expression in the natural environment. No matter the season, it is amazing to see what a few hours in nature can do for our children.

Mark your calendars and come celebrate this milestone with us at our Homecoming event on August 29th @ 1pm.
