Brooke Blackmon Dance Award

Hey everyone! We have finalized the Brooke Blackmon Dance Award, and the applications for the bursary are now open until Saturday May 15th, 2021!

This bursary is in memoriam of Brooke Blackmon and will be awarded to a student in their final year at Dryden High School. The recipient of the award must demonstrate leadership qualities, has made valuable contributions to dance in our community, has a love of dance, and is continuing into a post-secondary institution. Preference will be given to a student who has belonged to a dance studio, and it can be deferred for up to one year!

As well, there is an additional component to the application that is required. Please submit one of the following: video, essay, poem, slideshow, collage etc. demonstrating education goals and love of dance (2 minute max).

We'd like to welcome you to this page which is dedicated to the Brooke Blackmon Dance Award. In memory of Brooke, we have decided to start up a bursary in her honour.

As many of you know, Brooke was determined - she had dreams and would push herself to achieve them, and Brooke worked to push others to reach their full potential as well. She was very passionate about dancing and her studies, which is why we have decided to create this award.

This award will be designed to help students who are passionate about dance achieve their academic goals. The bursary will be given to a DHS graduating student each year: allowing us to continue honouring Brooke and help another dancer pursue their dreams.

If you would like to donate to the award, donations can be made via e-transfer to "[email protected]". You can also help by sharing our page and helping to spread our message!
