Mihtatakaw Sipiy School Mihtatakaw Sipiy School (formerly Driftpile Community School) is a Indigeneous school located on the Outdoor culture camps are programmed into the school year.

The community of Driftpile is between two larger centers, namely, Slave Lake and High Prairie. Mihtatakaw Sipiy School is part of the Woodland Cree First Nation located amidst a beautiful setting surrounded by the Boreal Forest. The modern facility is shaped in an eagle's feather with governance consisting of Chief and Council. The School serves K-4, K-5 to grade 8 students with a full academic pr

ogram. Unique features of the programming are its Cree language and cultural components. Students are made aware of their Cree heritage by being exposed to the Cree language, traditional dance, song, drumming, crafts and folklore. The School serves approximately 85 students with a staff of 6 teachers providing low teacher/student ratios that are ideal for effective learning and retention. Aspiring teachers enrolled at the University of Alberta often are assigned to the school for their final practicums.

Parents please take note: On December 4 & 5, 2023. There will be only one bus run picking up all the kids. Lazarra will start her run at 7 am and start on her end and then do Chantelle's run. Please be prepared for your child to either get picked up earlier than usual or picked up later than usual and dropped off later than usual. The K4/K5 students will be picked up later as well. Lazarra will start picking up the students at 9:20 am. If there are questions, please contact the school. Thank you. Please share my post!
