Joey's Dulcet Melodies

Joey's Dulcet Melodies Operating since 1997, Dulcet Melodies is a kinder, gentler music studio focusing on advanced vocal instruction and beginner piano lessons in Didsbury, Alberta.

Dulcet Melodies is a kinder, gentler music studio focusing on vocal and beginner piano in South East Calgary. The principal instructor is Joey Oberhoffner, who began the studio in 1997 and has been teaching youth and adults to "Sing As If No One Is Listening" ever since. With decades of performance experience and having had the benefit of some of the finest vocal instruction in Canada, Joey is passionate about making sure he takes the right approach with each and every student - cookie cutters are for cookies, not for instructional technique. Our home-based studio sits in the easily accessible New Brighton area of South East Calgary, and includes a warm and inviting atmosphere both for students to learn and for parents to wait if they so desire. Joey is excited to welcome you into his home, whether you be 8 or 80 (he's taught both, and almost every age in between). The uncle to 4 young children and vocal coach to hundreds of teens at a local high school is pleased to be accepting new students for Fall 2017. Our initial consultation is always 100% complimentary, and if we're not the right fit for your needs, we'll do our best to recommend someone who IS. Lessons are available in 30, 45 or 60 minute sessions at a reasonable rate. We also offer discounts for existing students who refer us to their friends! Call Joey at 403-399-7022, and book your free consultation today!

The right tool is only the right tool if it's used the right way.

A microphone is exactly the same. Whether you're speaking or singing, if you don't practice good and consistent microphone technique, it will be just as effective as trying to hit a screw with a hammer.

Contact us today to take your microphone technique to the next level!

When the temperature drops this low, your skin dries out - you've probably noticed you're a little itchier than normal.

Your vocal cords are made of skin too - and they need your help to stay healthy in this cold and dry weather! Make sure you're drinking at least 2 liters of water every day - more, if you're also consuming significant amounts of caffeine of alcohol. Sip it slowly, not in long gulps, so it has time to be absorbed into your tissues rather than just sending you running for the bathroom.

Your voice will thank you!

We know... we’re tired of the pandemic, too - and we’ve almost finished watching Netflix.

Yeah. ALL of Netflix. The whole thing.

While individual, in-person music lessons are allowed under current health restrictions, we understand not everyone is comfortable with face-to-face instruction right now.

We’re happy to offer lessons via your preferred video conferencing app. Once things get rolling again, make sure you can impress your friends and loved ones with the new skills you picked up during the pandemic!

One of the most satisfying ways for Joey to give back to the performing arts is in volunteering his time as a judge of amateur singing competitions.

One of the largest in the world - the Karaoke World Championships - is holding its provincial finals this weekend in Calgary. Get more information about how you can watch, at https://www.kwccanada.com/alberta

It’s not a magic potion, or luck of the draw... the best results always come from the same tried-and-true formula: practice + more practice.
