In keeping with long-standing tradition, members of the North Delta Power Talkers comported themselves extremely well at the area contest Humorous Speech and Table Topic Contests.
Akshat Nagpal drew the most laughs with a polished, well-paced speech pointing out the oddities in the Imperial System and American "football". This earned him second place and a trip to next week's Division Contest. Both 1st and 2nd place winners proceed to the next level.
Our own Bob Rorison, who was bulking up the representation from The Word, a club that he is assisting, finished second in the Table Topics contest by giving a touching, heart-felt answer to the question, "How do you define success?'
Finally, the diminuitive but scrappy Val Adolph ultimately emerged from the raucous scrum that was the Table Topics competition clutching the 1st Place Certificate by answering the same question with her own inimitable definition of success.
Well done, our champions! Proud of you all
Now on to the Division Contests!

Wednesdays !!!!! Its always an exciting and interesting evening that we all look forward to.Two new members joined our club and were immediately given roles - one as Timer and the other as Grammarian/Ah Counter. Both did admirable jobs. The agenda was full with three prepared speeches on such wide-ranging topics as Making the Case for Critical Illness Insurance, Surviving Camping, and believe-it-or-not, What Really Happens in Your Sock Drawer When You're Not Looking. Clearly we operate under a Big Tent at North Delta Power Talkers. No doubt you'd fit in too.

It's a bright and spacious room and has all the amenities we need to conduct great meetings

Wednesday - 6:45 North Delta Rec Centre - Main Floor Multi-Purpose Room
Last Wednesday August 26 marked our last night at our summer location, Sun-bury Hall. Next week, September 2 we are back in the building we call home, the North Delta Rec Center.
Construction at the Rec Centre is not fully complete so for the time being we are going to meet in a different room than the one on the second floor. Our new room is easy to find and as a bonus is in a very traffic location, just inside the main entrance, the first door on your left, in what’s called the Pre-School Room. But there will be nothing “pre-school” about our meetings.Come join us At North Delta Rec center On Wednesday.

This week North Delta Power Talkers got together and decided to give a social spin to our weekly meetings. All members got together and indulged in a hot sunny social bbq at Tinku Parmar's residence. All members had a great time and welcomed some new guests while enjoying a meal and social networking amongst each other. As we work on encouraging social speaking skills it is also important to work on social networking skills while having a good time!
Cakes by Anjan provided us with delicious variety of cakes. Thank you Anjan Ahuja .Sheri provided extra sweet icing for the cake in the form of Ice wine.
Come join us next week on Wednesday at sunburn hall and enjoy the toastmaster experience.
