Youth Leadership Program This five day intensive workshop will have you working with educators and scientists to explore the effects of human behavior on the environment.

BC Hydro's Energy Ambassador program is a great way to learn how to become school leaders in energy and sustainability. School teams are encouraged to promote conservation back at school through audits, creative campaigns, presentations and conservation projects. Program highlights include:

Connect with a green student network

Partner with the district’s Energy Specialist

Access digital survey and audit tools

Lead energy-saving and conservation campaigns at school

Visit elementary schools and share the conservation message

Apply for Energy Ambassadors Conservation Grants to help fund school conservation projects

Showcase student action in sustainability with a presentation to the school district’s Board of Education.

The workshop takes place on Monday, February 23 from 10-2. Please let Mr Eichorn know ASAP if you are interested in attending.

The Green Team undertook several waste audits, where we sorted through the contents of the school's new waste bins to evaluate if they were being used correctly. One of the biggest issues we found is organics going in to the garbage bins. Remember: ALL food waste should go in the green bins!

Green Bricks: Sustainable building issues in schools and communities 01/26/2015

The "green economy" is changing the face of the workplace in BC and around the world. A conference focussing on careers in sustainability will be happening on February 14th at Hilton Metrotown in Burnaby. Register before February 11th for the opportunity to meet and interact with people who have had successful green careers.
