National Day for Truth and Reconciliation – September 30

Tomorrow, we recognize the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and honour the children who never returned home, the Survivors of residential schools, and their families and communities.

Millwrights Union Local 2736 encourages our members to take time to listen, learn, reflect, and participate in the work of reconciliation.

Our office will be closed tomorrow, September 30, in recognition of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, and will reopen during regular business hours on October 1.

Start time: 8:00 AM

• Confined Space Entry – October 13
• Fall Protection – October 14
• MEWP (Boom & Scissor Lift) – October 15
• FORKLIFT/TELEHANDLER – October 7
• OVERHEAD CRANE – October 8
• CWB Welding Testing – October 1, 15 & 29

Dispatch Requirements:
To be eligible for dispatch, members must hold valid certifications for:
• Confined Space Entry
• Fall Protection
• WHMIS 2015
• SiteReadyBC or CSTS 2020
• MEWP

Members should review certifications and expiry dates through QTrades or contact [email protected] with any questions.

Bringing the MRC into planning early creates time to forecast labour needs, connect contractors with experienced Millwrights, and identify opportunities for apprentices to develop.
The workforce conversation belongs at the beginning.

Labour Day is a time to recognize and celebrate the workers who keep our industries moving and our communities strong.

It’s also a reminder of what generations of workers have achieved by standing together — and the importance of continuing to protect the rights, standards and opportunities they fought for.
