I teach Music for Young Children group lessons (3.5 and older). MYC is a structured and fun music program.

Children attend with a parent. Parents are involved and participate with their child. www.myc.com for the main website and all the info you could need! www.emmaskeete.weebly.com

Children are the center of MYC … their learning styles and needs are met through a multi-sensory approach. The understanding of music will expand into positive problem-solving skills, areas of self-expression, the growth of memory skills and excellent self-confidence and self-esteem. With these natural outcomes children can easily take on the skills required to read other languages and master other tasks. In MYC, children meet in small groups, in their own age category, once a week for an hour, accompanied by an adult (parent, grandparent or caregiver) who participates in the program. The program lasts from three to five years, depending on the age of the child, with each year typically consisting of 36 lessons.

Recital season can bring out the best in your students.

But it can also bring out the busiest version of their parents.

Suddenly, piano is competing with sports schedules, family plans, school events, tired evenings, and the classic “Do we really have to?” conversation.

And while teachers know that recitals are about so much more than one short performance, parents do not always see the bigger picture right away.

That’s where today’s post comes in. We’re sharing 12 parent-friendly reasons why recital participation matters, so you can help families understand that a recital is not just another thing on the calendar.

It is a confidence-builder, a goal-setter, a community-maker, and one of those proud little childhood moments that students remember long after the last note fades.
