Eclosing is the process by which a monarch emerges from its chrysalis as a butterfly!

🌿✨ A Magical Morning at Bright Side✨🦋

This morning, we had the most enchanting experience, one of our beautiful monarch butterflies emerged and was ready (well, almost!) to greet the world. 🐛➡️🦋

Her wings weren’t fully dry just yet, so she stayed with us for a while, giving us the rare chance to admire her up close and snap some stunning photos. We gently placed her on one of our blooming purple hosta flowers, where she could finish drying her delicate wings and gather the strength she needed for her first flight. 💜🌸

The children were absolutely captivated; they kept running over to the fence to check if our butterfly friend was still there, whispering their goodbyes and words of encouragement. She lingered with us for a couple of peaceful hours before finally fluttering away on her new adventure. 🦋✨

Moments like these remind us just how magical nature can be. 💛

Exciting news!! We’ve welcomed 4 more monarch caterpillars over the past few days (all in different stages of development), bringing our total to 6! 🥳 They’ve been munching away non-stop (and pooping a ton😅) and growing super fast.

This morning when we arrived at the centre, our biggest caterpillar was hanging upside down in a J-shape which is a clear sign that it was getting ready to molt and form its chrysalis. By the time nap was over… 💤 surprise! It had transformed into a stunning green chrysalis! 💚✨

We can’t wait to see what happens next in their magical transformation! Stay tuned! 🦋

🦋 Exciting News at Bright Side!

Last week, one of our wonderful families brought us two monarch caterpillars along with a milkweed plant—the only food monarchs eat! We’ve been observing and caring for them as they prepare for their big transformation into chrysalises and eventually emerge as beautiful butterflies! 🐛➡️🦋

Yesterday, another amazing family donated a second milkweed plant, giving us plenty of fresh leaves to keep our caterpillars healthy and growing. One of them has already grown a lot in just 5 days—we’re so excited to watch their progress!

🌱 Did you know? Monarch butterflies are endangered, and in the wild, only 3% survive to adulthood. But when cared for by humans, that survival rate jumps to 97%!
