Our days might be short, but we sure do PACK a lot into them!
Today was one of those wonderfully busy preschool days filled with a little bit of everything!
We played in the rain, enjoyed free play, read books, played the drums, created some art… and so much more!
And with our crab apples starting to fall from our tree, we’ve been noticing quite a few deer visiting the preschool lately. So today, we decided to learn ALL about apples!
🍎 What shape are apples?
🍎 What colours can they be?
🍎 Are all apples the same size?
🍎 What is that little stem for?
🍎 And what might we find inside?
We made some guesses about what would be hiding inside our apple including seeds and a puppy dog!
Then came the exciting part — we cut our apple open and discovered something pretty amazing…
A STAR! ⭐
We found the little seeds inside too and talked about how, if a seed is planted and cared for, it can grow into a whole new apple tree!
Of course, no apple investigation would be complete without a taste test!
We sampled Pink Lady, Honeycrisp and Golden Delicious apples and decided they were ALL pretty yummy!
We also talked about our crab apples and why the apples growing on our preschool tree are enjoyed by animals like the deer, but aren't apples that we eat ourselves.
And throughout our day, we continued learning about why we were wearing orange today and read books that helped us learn more about National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
So many questions, discoveries, conversations, giggles and learning packed into one little preschool day!
Short days? Maybe.
BIG learning? Absolutely!
