East Coast Varsity is a small Dartmouth-based private school, proudly providing an inclusive family environment, we believe a partnership between physically active lifestyles and lifelong learning is vital for one to achieve their best selves. Recently, Leroy Fontaine visited the school to read his new book to our Lower Campus students!

Leroy is part of the Denesuline Tribe and is a proud member of Chipewyan Prairie First Nation. He and his family now live in Nova Scotia, and is also an ECV dad! He visited us to read and discuss his second book, Sekweha the Superkid: And His Super Dogs, which is about the Seven Sacred Teachings: truth, love, respect, wisdom, honestly, bravery, and humility.

Our students loved learning about Sekweha last year in Leroy's first book, Sekweha the Super Kid: And His Cultural Cape, and were very excited to hear more about Sekweha's adventures!

Grade Primary and Grade One students took their first field trip to Noggins Farm last week!

Students were treated to a wagon ride that took them to the apple orchard where they picked a bag of apples. In addition to learning about apples, students also visited Noggins cows and if they chose, found their way through a corn maze. Students had great fun taking their learning of living things and daily seasonal changes outdoors to the farm!

East Coast Varsity's annual Terry Fox Run yesterday was a great success! Our initial goal was $3300 ($300 per class) and the ECV community went above and beyond with their fundraising efforts and raised over $4800 and counting!

Grade Primary Steps Outside the Lines!

As a fun Friday art lesson, students learned about different types of lines and created a free 3D art style using them.

We recently held our annual Character House Allocation Ceremony!

Students from Pre-Primary to Grade 9 were assigned to character houses and will earn points for their team throughout the school year.

Each month, a different house hosts a Character Initiative so that the whole school can learn about that particular Pillar of Character: Respect (yellow), Responsibility (green), Citizenship (purple), Fairness (orange), Caring (red), and Trustworthiness (blue).

Students spend time learning and working as a team, starting with our Dragonboat races next week!

We look forward to another wonderful year with our character house program!

Congratulations to recent ECV Alum, Brett, on his fantastic canoe kayak achievements! In 2026, he represented NS at the Canada Cup and earned a gold, silver, and fourth place finish!

Recently, Brett attended Nationals in Ottawa. He came home with 3 gold, a silver, and 1 bronze. His club, Maskawa, won top points for Nationals, winning top points in history!

Congratulations, Brett! We are so proud of you!
