🍒 This is how a cherry season is built.

Blossom. Fruit set. Fruit on the branch. A box ready to ship. Four stages, one long process — and nothing about it is quick.

Right now the Chilean orchards are at the beginning of that journey: trees in bloom, petals falling, the first green fruit forming where the flowers were. What happens from here decides the size, the colour and the quality of everything that follows.

That’s why our team is there. Direct grower partnerships, field oversight through the season, our people present at the packhouse making quality decisions in real time. Every stage watched by someone who knows what the next one depends on.

The first air arrivals land in October, ahead of the holiday season, with peak ocean volume through Lunar New Year.

One Brand, Two Hemispheres
Right now the cherry trees in Chile are in bloom. Our team is in the orchards, walking the blocks with our growers — and that’s where the winter cherry season actually begins.
Most retailers treat cherries as a six-week summer event. Fruit arrives, displays go up, shoppers buy heavily, then the category disappears until next year. A dual-hemisphere program changes that.

The supply window
Our Southern Hemisphere program runs October through March — roughly five months of continuous supply in the months when cherries would otherwise be off the shelf:
* October–November: premium Chilean fruit by air, ahead of the holiday season
* December–February: peak ocean shipments on a weekly schedule, through Lunar New Year
* February–March: late Chilean and Argentine fruit by air, closing the season
Add the Canadian crop in summer, and the category stays present for most of the year.

One standard, both origins
Extending a season only works if quality holds.
We maintain a dedicated team and office in Chile with direct grower access, daily field oversight and harvest supervision — not open-market buying. Our people are present at the packing facilities, making quality decisions in real time. We don’t outsource quality management.
So the discipline doesn’t change between hemispheres: the same sizing benchmarks, the same firmness and colour standards, the same arrival monitoring. Whether the box reads Product of Canada or Product of Chile, the I ❤️ Cherry label means the same thing — consistent eating quality, reliable sizing, strong shelf life, every shipment.

A quick look through the Chilean orchards this week: some blocks still in flower, others already past it, with the first small green cherries showing on the branch.

Fruit set is the moment the season stops being a forecast and starts being a crop. From here it’s about sizing, colour and the weeks of care that turn these into fruit worth shipping.

Our team is walking the blocks with our growers, following it stage by stage. It’s how we know what’s coming, and how we plan a season we can stand behind.

Royal Dawn in the Chilean orchards, right at peak flower. It’s an early variety — among the first to be picked when the season opens.

Bloom is where a season is won or lost. Even flowering, good pollination weather, healthy bud development across the block: all of it shows up later in size, colour and volume. Our team is in the orchards now, following it variety by variety with our growers.

Early varieties like this one are what make the first air arrivals possible in October, while the rest of the season builds behind them.
