We need a story to learn by. A story creates an internal physiological state inspired by the narrative. This state of excitement creates emotional memories, and instinctive reactions.
Ceremony is important.

There are some movers and shakers in the world of shall we say combative arts that don’t get the light of day. I am inspired by you all. Keep it up. Keep training, become your truth, but also trust physics n stuff like that. Cos that’s important too :)

One person who has been a great inspiration for myself is Master At Arms James Keating. I have only spoken a couple of times, and a few messages, however, his website and postings have always been a sources of inspiration and martial alchemy. Thank you Jim.

As a research martial practitioner I was introduced to NLP quite sometime ago, that and other types of behaviouralism became a hot topic for myself. I must hastened to add, Jungian Pyschology.
As with most past times their needs to be a motivation, with martial arts there are many but ceremony plays its part too. Uniform has a lot gravitas to the wearer within, as it moves a person to fill its responsibility. For me my motivation comes from a powerful archetype that I designed. I dress from within, a shadow defined by my internal light, flat cap and all.
