🌹 Please join us on National Day of Awareness for MMIWG2S+

No More Stolen Sisters. Help us make the invisible epidemic visible.

On May 5th, we invite the Comox Valley community to stand in solidarity with us as we honor the lives of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit people.

This is a day for our community to come together in reflection, strength, and hope. We are creating a space of remembrance, and your presence is a vital part of that circle. Whether you come to listen, to learn, or to remember a loved one, you are welcome here.

When: Tuesday, May 5, 2026
Where: Florence Filberg Centre, Courtenay, B.C
Time: 12:00pm to 3:00pm

How to Participate:

Wear Red: We encourage everyone to wear red clothing or a Red Dress pin to show their support.

Community Support: Visit the information booths to learn more about the work being done through the Indigenous Women's Sharing Society and our local partners.

Let’s ensure that MMIWG2S+ are never forgotten and that our sisters are always remembered. We can’t wait to see our community standing together.

Our staff and students have been busy this fall season! We are so grateful for the donation of some beautiful fish and the opportunity to use our smokehouse. We even had some clams donated to us!

We have taken part in an archery, witnessed the gift of oral histories being shared in the Kumugwe Big House, hosted Courtenay Elementary students for Halloween, and participated in a fossil hunt.

We were also excited to take part in the Everyone Deserves A Smile initiative, and help to decorate cards and bags and to make cedar roses for those in need in our community.
