It’s hard to believe Thanksgiving is already upon us! Thank you to our wonderful parent community for your continued support, involvement, and contributions to making our school such a welcoming and caring place for students and families. Your partnership and commitment to our school community are truly appreciated.

Terry Fox:
A big thank you to our school community for your wonderful support of this year’s Terry Fox Run and fundraising efforts! We are grateful to all the parents and guardians who volunteered, cheered on our students, and contributed to our event. Your generosity and involvement helped make the event a great success and reinforced the importance of perseverance, compassion, and giving back to others. Thank you for helping us keep Terry Fox’s legacy alive!



Open House:
Parents and guardians are warmly invited to our school Open House on Thursday, Oct. 22, from 2:00–2:30 p.m. Teachers and students are excited to showcase the learning environment and the journey for the year ahead. Our Open House is intended as a general overview of the classroom and not a personal interview with the teacher.

We look forward to welcoming you!



PAC Salmon Day:
Following Open House, families are invited to come by Thursday October 22 from 2:30-4:00 and celebrate our 10TH ANNIVERSARY of SALMON DAY! We will have local vendors, birds from MARS, games, face painting, hot chocolate, and rumour has it that there will be cake! Swim by the Morrison Creek side of the school after the open house and check it out! There's a "catch" (get it? HAHA!) These events are not possible without your help! An email from PAC will be coming out soon for requests for volunteers to help with set up, take down and to help run the stations for this event. The Weekly - Oct 5-9

Our cross-country run Thursday was a huge success! Many of our students achieved personal bests, with several earning top-25 finishes. We are very proud of all our runners for their effort, perseverance, and positive sportsmanship. A big thank you to the staff, families, and volunteers who helped make the event possible and supported our students along the way. This week we will be hosting our Terry Fox run on Friday morning.

As the mornings become darker, please use extra caution when driving on the roads around the school and in the parking lot. Thank you for helping keep our students, families, and staff safe. Enjoy this weekend and have a great week.

Photo Retake Information:

Volleyball Game:
Highland Secondary is hosting an afternoon of volleyball Oct. 4. At 1:00 pm the Highland senior boys and girls teams will be playing the Isfeld senior boys and girls teams. Then, at 3:00, the Camosun College Chargers men's volleyball team will face the Vancouver Island University Mariners men's team in a best of 5 match.

There will be a concession and $5.00 entry fee.

Terry Fox Run:
Staff and students at École Puntledge Park are excited to honor the spirit of Terry Fox with the annual Terry Fox Run on Friday, October 9, 2026, starting at 11:20 am. The goal is $2 per student. For every $300 we raise we will draw a name of a student to Pie Mr. Streit! or… as always, there may be a twist…

PAC News:
We are looking for a parent/guardian to represent our PAC at the district level, connecting with representatives from other school PACs across the Comox Valley. This role involves attending a meeting once a month, typically on the first Monday evening of the month, to gather and share information and bring relevant updates back to our PAC. If you are interested in getting involved and helping strengthen communication between our school and the broader PAC community, we would love to hear from you. Below is a link for more information:

Lost And Found:
We have begun October with three racks full of lost clothing. You are encouraged to label clothing with your child’s initials and division number on the tag so we can reunite students with clothing. Ex. Christian Streit Division 10 = CS10

As we have limited space to store lost and found items, any unclaimed belongings will be donated October 24. Please take a moment to check the lost and found before this date for any items your child may be missing.

Summer is officially behind us, and fall has arrived! As we settle into the new season, our classrooms are buzzing with learning, friendships are growing, and school routines are well underway. On Wednesday Sep. 30, there will be no school in observance of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. This year our students are creating a heart garden to represent the memory of children lost to the Residential School System. You will see these displayed in front of the school and in our school courtyard.

Cross Country:
We are hosting the first meet of the year Thu. Oct. 1. All other races are on Wed. We look forward to welcoming all the other district elementary cross-country teams. Races are for Gr. 3-7 students.

For your planning, the order of races is Gr. 7, 3, 4 ,5 ,6 (boys then girls).

The event runs from 3:30 to about 4:30 pm. There will be a concession hosted by our Gr. 7 students who are fundraising for their Strathcona trip. If you are able to volunteer on the course as a marshal, please contact Mr. Streit. [email protected]

Weather and Clothing:
As we officially get into the Fall season, we'd like to ask families to ensure their child is prepared for the weather. We believe that getting students outside and encouraging them to be active outdoors is very important. Please expect your child to be outside for recess. Only in very extreme weather conditions will students be kept indoors (1 day over the last 5 years).

PAC Meeting:
Thank you to everyone who joined us for our first PAC meeting on September 23. It was nice to see new faces. Many creative ideas were shared to support fun activities for our school community this year. Volunteers are always welcome to help make these events possible. Your time and energy make a big difference!

Comox Valley Arts: Is excited to launch a new After School Art Studio for young artists ages 8–11, and we'd love your help sharing it with families in your school community.

Safer Schools Together:
As part of Safer Schools Togethers’ on-going work through the Ministry of Education and Childcare’s erase strategy, we are pleased to announce COMPLIMENTARY student and family sessions coming up again this school year.

Student sessions on “Establishing Safe, Caring and Respectful Digital Communities”, as well as “Establishing Respectful Relationships and Consent in Our Communities” are for students in grades 5-12. Please note this is a 60-minute session, with different days and times to accommodate different bell schedules. These are for educators to watch with their classes. All student sessions can be found HERE.

As well, the family sessions are recommended for Parents/Caregivers/Grandparents and youth aged 10 and up. All our sessions can be found HERE – Please note the first session was Tuesday, September 15th.

School Supplies:
The school has purchased all necessary supplies and families will be asked to pay $35.00 per student as their portion. Payment can be made via e-transfer to: [email protected] (please indicate your child(ren)’s names) or by exact cash payment at the office. The cost for your child(ren)’s school supplies has been partially covered by the Student and Affordability Funds.

The Weekly - Sept 21-25

Our kindergarten students successfully completed their first full week of classes, and cross-country practices began during lunchtime. With classrooms bustling, activities underway, and students settling into their routines, the school is once again in full swing!

A reminder there is no school for students on Monday, Sep 21 as it is a non-instructional day. Enjoy a relaxing weekend.

Backpack Buddies:
The backpack buddies program will be available this year. These bags are packed with non-perishables to support families through the weekend. To limit food waste, please contact Elisa (our Youth and Family Support Worker) at [email protected] to sign up your child.

The Weekly: Sept 14-18

And we’re off! It was wonderful to welcome everyone back this week and to see students, staff, and families reconnecting. A special thank-you to our PAC for providing the delicious popsicles. Please see below for important information about the week ahead.

Breakfast Club:
Our universally accessible and FREE Breakfast Club opens Monday. Just look for the sign and the open window on the forest side of the school between 8:15-8:30.

Student Verification Forms:
Students have received them. Please complete these forms and return them to the office as soon as possible.

School Photos:
Individual Photo Day is Thursday, Sep 17. Smiles are welcome!

Gymnasium:
Our gymnasium floor was refinished over the summer. To help keep it in the best possible condition for physical education classes and school sports, please ensure that your child has a clean pair of indoor shoes to wear in the gym. Thank you for your support!

PAC:
Our first PAC meeting of the year will take place on Wednesday, September 23, from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. in the school library. All parents and caregivers are welcome to join us and share ideas about how we can make our school even better for our students. Agenda items will include the PAC budget and upcoming fundraising plans. A movie and childcare will be provided for children.

Wacky Wheelie Wednesdays will begin Sep. 16.
The parking lot will be closed so students can ride bikes, scooters, rollerblades, rollerskates. Students can take part before school starts and during the two morning recesses. Parking lot will reopen at 11:05 AM.

-New Families: You will need to create a new registration profile on the munchalunch site so you can place an order.

All lunches are served with a tray of vegetables and / or fruit, and fruit is also available at the front office.
