Catching up with some congratulations to students Maya, Matthew, and Oscar on their participation in the 2026 BCCM Music Festival! 👏👏👏

After giving nine masterclasses and sixteen coaching sessions last week, what an exhilarating (and somewhat exhausting!) experience to teach at the 2026 UVIC Summer Piano Immersion program. Very inspiring to be among youth and adult participants who hold such passion for piano playing, and an honour to teach alongside such piano luminaries as May Ling Kwok, Jamie Syer, and Bruce Vogt. And to top it all off, Michelle Fillion presented a superb Debussy course!

Thoroughly enjoyed hearing my students and the students of Luna Piano Studio in a joint piano recital yesterday at Tom Lee Music 通利琴行.

Thoroughly enjoyed adjudicating piano classes at the 2026 North Shore Music Festival over the last few days. Many excellent, hard working students and teachers on the North Shore!

Congratulations to student Matthew Wang on his participation in the Pacific International Youth Music Society Festival 2025. Here he is with his first-place medal from the Senior, 20th & 21st Century class!

Thoroughly enjoyed my time adjudicating the Diploma Competitive, Diploma Gala-Challenge, and Concerto classes for the Pacific International Youth Festival (Vancouver B.C.). Congratulations to all participants who shared such beautiful music. These young performers, their teachers, and the folks running this festival are doing amazing work to keep this great art form alive. Looking forward to the Gala finals this weekend!
