Island students from kindergarten to Grade 9 in the public education system will again receive free essential school supplies for the 2026-27 school year.

Parents and Guardians will need to still provide:

We are so excited to see students back in school!

Welcome back Students and Westwood Families!!

FIRST DAY (September 8th):

New Kindergarten Students must be dropped off on the first day (see below) Grades 1-3 can take the bus to school on the first day.
Children in Grades 1-3 will start the day at 8:30am (reg time) by returning to their last year's class where they will have the opportunity to see their friends and teacher from last year. Their last year's teacher will then take them to their new class for this year.

Students in Grades 1-3 who are new to our school this year, will meet in the library and will be taken to their class by our staff. Please enter through the front door of the school if you are new to our school.

Kindergarten students will arrive with parents at the following times:
French Immersion Kindergarten students arrive at 9:15 am and proceed to the gym.
English Kindergarten students arrive at 9:30 am and proceed to the gym.

*NOTE: New Kindergarten students have a later start and must be driven to school. They can however, take the bus home. (See below for further bus information)

Additional Info:
• Reminder to bring your bus information slip with your child for the first day of school. The slip was given out at Orientation Day last Spring.
Remember to pack a snack, lunch and indoor footwear. (No tree nuts, peanuts or kiwi/juice)
• There will also be an additional $3.00 charge for your child’s homework bag. The $3.00 can be sent to school anytime during the first week.

Our school is equipped with water bottle filling stations. We encourage all of our students bring a FILLED water bottle to school EACH DAY. Remember to label the bottle with your child’s name. Regular washing of the water bottle is recommended.

• Grade 3 students will also have an additional fee for the purchase of a Recorder (musical instrument) for their Music Program. The cost for the recorder is $10.00. A form will be sent home during the first week to fill out and send the money to school to order the recorder. It is important that the money is collected in a timely manner so that we can purchase the musical instruments for all the Grade 3 students.

Children will be coming home with bus tag information attached to their kitbags. Please do not remove or alter these tags. The information on the tag is used by staff and bus drivers to ensure that students get to the correct destination at the end of the day. If you have a question about the information on the tag, please contact your child's teacher.

Regular school day starts at 8:30am and dismissal is at 2:30pm
As in past years, student arrival time can begin NO EARLIER than 8:05 am. Dismissal time is 2:30pm.

BUS INFO
We encourage all of our students to take the bus to and from school each day.
Bus Passes will only be permitted for after school care destinations or home. If your child is attending after school care, other than your child’s regular home destination, please send a note to school with the following information:
Child's Full Name
After School Destination Civic Address
Bus # (if known)
Changes to after school destinations and/or pick ups will not be accepted past 1:45pm. This is to ensure that the note can be delivered to the student in a timely manner before dismmisal at the end of the day.
