Congratulations East Wiltshire!!!

Congratulations to everyone at East Wiltshire Intermediate who are the recipients of 1 of the 3 Sanofi Biogenius Canada grants worth $50,000!

This grant will allow East Wiltshire Intermediate to grow and continue its STEM learning in the school. STEM learning is the integrated areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics and will give the school the opportunity to update lab equipment, launch new science programs and take science education to the next level.

Thank you to the group at East Wiltshire Intermediate who lead this initiative and will help foster STEM learning for years to come.

Today was the official opening of the new Westwood playground and we were so excited to celebrate! Thank you to Education Minister Natalie Jameson for coming out to say a few words and for our Kindergarten class who performed a lovely song at the celebration. It was a beautiful day!

A shout out to North Rustico Home Hardware Building Centre for their generous donation of over $2500 worth of building supplies for the playground which included sonotubes, paint and lumber. From the lumber, our talented Westwood parents built the following picnic tables and benches for the playground.

A big thank you to Cornwall Auto & Tire for their $1,000 donation to the Westwood Playground! They heard about our Playground Project and wanted to support our fundraising efforts. We just can't thank our local businesses and business owners enough for their generosity, and caring about our school and community.

A big thank you to Caesar's Charlottetown for partnering with us to provide a weekly pizza day option for hotlunch. Funds raised through the purchase of pizza went to the new playground at Westwood. We are happy to report that since March we have raised over $5,700 in revenue from the Pizza Day sales!! Thank you to all of the parents who supported our Pizza Day fundraiser, the kids really enjoyed it.

Many children spend much of their time on the playground trying to soar as far as they can from the security of their swing. An inclusive swing seat allows children of all abilities and needs to join in on the fun of this classic playground activity. Thank you to the Rotary Club of Charlottetown Royalty for their generous donation of $2,000, which allowed us to purchase this new accessible swing for our playground!

What an incredible day! We are beyond grateful to the many volunteers who came out today to help with the build, and to the local businesses who kept the volunteers fed. We also want to give a heartfelt thank you to all of our many donors for their generosity over the past number of months. As of yesterday, we have now raised over $145,000!!! This playground will benefit children and families in Cornwall and surrounding communities for years to come and we couldn’t have done it without your support. 💕
