For those of you practicing number sense with your littles, here is a new center covering numbers up to 1000. It includes two sets of 20 numbers to match. Each number has four cards with different standard and nonstandard symbolic notations to match. This is great for practicing place value when it is being covered in class, and can also be used as a great review all year long!

This year in math, French Immersion grade 3 teachers were asked to start off the year by introducing certain concepts of time. Part of this outcome includes the relationship between seconds, minutes, and hours. Students also should be able to relate them to common daily activities.

As is often the case with our busy teacher schedules, the "non-foundational" outcomes tend to get less love. That being said, time is such an important concept! My husband and I work on it with our 4-year-old almost daily.

This resource covers seconds, minutes, and hours in detail and is intended to be more hands-on and interactive than regular math sheets.

Bonjour tout le monde! My name is Kristy Johnston, and I hope you enjoy my Teachers Pay Teachers resources! I have 8 years of experience teaching in the classroom, at various levels ranging from primary to high school. I am a French Immersion teacher and am currently teaching grade 3 French Immersion. I have 5 years of experience at this grade level, and I absolutely love it! I completed my M.Ed. in 2022 in a teaching French as a second language in a minority setting through Université Sainte-Anne.

I believe strongly in providing a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students. I do my best to provide meaningful and engaging activities, directly linked to curriculum outcomes. It is important for students to strive to do their best, while also having some fun!

I am also passionate about teaching French and do my best to create a French culture in my classroom. I have high expectations around students speaking French in my class and have seen so much growth in my students because of it. I routinely use Workshop Model, for math, writing, and reading. I also am learning more and more about the science of reading and have implemented this in my class, especially through teaching phonics.

Moreover, I have a large focus on social-emotional learning and consistently teach it in my classroom. Over the past couple of years, I have increasingly been favoring outdoor learning. Students benefit so much from fresh air, the opportunity to move around in an outdoor environment while learning, and by using nature to enhance learning. Teaching a certain number of lessons outdoors, in my opinion, has been instrumental in providing my students with a better, more complete education. In my class, students explore the environment around us and use objects in nature to help with math concepts, learn vocabulary/ oral communication strategies, cover outcomes in our multidisciplinary units, write, read, create art and so much more.
