Today we pause to reflect on the injustices committed on indigenous communities. It's a day for learning, listening and holding space to honour those that continue to be affected by residential schools and the innocent children who never made it home.
Forest school is a child-led, nature based educational approach that focuses on fostering children's independence and connection with nature.
It's rooted in play, hands on experiences and exploration.
Give your child an experience that will stay with them long into adulthood. Join us this fall! We have a few spots left!!

Curriculum connections in Forest School π©βπ
We may not be in a traditional classroom and some may see this as "just play" but key learning is still happening! Our students came together to work as carpenters, architects and designers while fort building.
π² MATH - While looking for different branches students worked on spatial sense through measurements. They hunted for sticks that were the right thickness and size for the job. If they couldn't find the perfect fit, they measured and cut to the length they needed.
π² STEM INVESTIGATION - They used engineering design processes to make a structure that worked to accommodate all of their friends. They tested different designs and materials to see what worked and didn't work.
π² SOCIAL EMOTIONAL - They worked on collaboration and communication as they navigated including different opinions and ideas. They got to practice managing their emotions, problem solving and developing their sense of self by voicing their opinions.
True hands on learning!
Come join the fun this fall!!π²π. Sign your child up for our fall session happening next week! Go to our website at www.wilflowerfns.ca.

Hey everyone π
It's been a while since we've chatted! We've been busy over here. Our forest family grew by 2 little feet and we got all zoning issues resolved at our new location π
With the new addition to our family, financial priorities have changed and I've decided to pursue something more permanent and with more job security.
I'm still very passionate about the school and am excited to get back out there with all of your eager explorers! Programming will look a little different and availability may change from year to year so reach out by email or private message us for more details.
Looking forward to connecting π₯°π²
Good things are worth fighting for! πͺ
It is with a very heavy heart that we are having to announce the indefinite closing of all programming.
We wanted to share with everyone some news on the situation we've been dealing with as of late... Over the last few months with the school growing to full-time, we've had to apply for a change in the zoning of our school property. The township has been amazing to deal with and have been champions for the school success since hearing of our great program. We've been working hard to get things in order so we can receive the proper documentation to run the school, however, some things are hard to prepare for.
The amendment process is a public one and unfortunately for reasons that are out of our control we have had to pause all programming on the property. This has left us with uncertainty about when our reopening date will be and unfortunately, it looks like it will be a long battle before we are up and running again.
We will continue to keep everyone up to date as things progress.
While we are disappointed with the situation we are facing, it has shined a light on how much support we have from our community β€οΈ Forest schools are new to our area and we are learning so much as we try to make this happen for South Stormont! -- We are here to fight and are so thankful for the journey and our supporters ππ²π

π·π Spring is here and that means we all have summer on our minds and camp registration on our to-do list!
We're anxious to share our summer camp info and get registration up and running. However, we are still waiting on a few things that are out of our control. -- Thank you all for being so patient and we hope to have things rolling in the coming weeks!
