What is the GCSU Queer Caucus? The GCSU Queer Caucus is a student-run caucus through the Grenfell Campus Student Union. We focus on issues relevant to the 2SLGBTQ+ community here at Grenfell Campus. Any member of the Grenfell community who identifies as a member of the 2SLGBTQ+ community is welcome and encouraged to join the Queer Caucus. We also hold occasional public meetings, which are open to allies of the 2SLGBTQ+ community. The dates and times of these meetings will be made known well in advance so that any interested parties can attend. When/where does the Queer Caucus meet? The Queer Caucus holds weekly meetings every Wednesday at 4:30 pm in the GCSU boardroom (just off the A&S student lounge). The Caucus serves a number of functions within the LGBTQ+ community and the Grenfell community as a whole. Along with providing a safe space for members of the LGBTQ+ community to meet and support one another, we are an active caucus like any other on campus. We plan and host events and raise awareness of/try to change issues that the LGBTQ+ community faces in the university environment. Why should I join? By joining the GCSU Queer Caucus, you will allow your voice as an individual and as a member of the LGBTQ+ community to be heard. We provide a safe and inclusive atmosphere in which to share your opinions, make suggestions, and create changes that will directly benefit you and other members of the community. By joining the Queer Caucus, you will be helping to create a safer, more inclusive Grenfell, which will be of benefit to all students, staff, and faculty, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity. How can I get involved? There are many ways to get involved with us! You can contact our caucus email at [email protected]. You can offer to volunteer for an event or promote said events. You can come to one of our events on campus yourself. Additionally, you can just come to a meeting! We are always happy to see new faces and will gladly answer any additional questions you may have!
