Located in Greater Vancouver, Coquitlam International Education (SD43) is the most successful program in British Columbia.

School District No. 43 (Coquitlam) - encompassing the cities of Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam and Port Moody and the villages of Anmore and Belcarra - in Greater Vancouver, is the third largest public school district in the Province of British Columbia, Canada, with 30,000 K-12 students and a community population of 210,000 spread over 200 square kilometers. Our International Education Program is the

largest and most successful in BC. We invite parents of school-aged children from around the world to visit our school district and learn more about our school programs, culture, facilities, and the natural beauty of one of the best living and learning regions in Canada. Nestled in the mountains and edged by the Pacific Ocean and the Fraser River, we enjoy a mild climate with a safe environment and an affluent lifestyle. Coquitlam truly is an ideal setting for international students with excellent year-round recreation, shopping, and ethnic dining. School District No. 43 (Coquitlam) provides a safe and supportive English Immersion atmosphere in which students can learn English quickly with the support of excellent teachers. Our coordinators help our international students academically and emotionally ease into their new school and educational environment while providing them with excellent guidance throughout their stay in Coquitlam. With a focus on global citizenship, Coquitlam School Board strives to equip all of our students with the skills to thrive and succeed as world leaders. All of our 66 schools – including 8 high schools - are centres of excellence for teaching and learning, with libraries, wireless internet environments, science labs, theatres, fine arts rooms, athletic facilities, ESL, and international student support. We provide an English immersion environment in which students acquire English quickly with the support of excellent teachers. Our many and varied programs include Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, Online, Montessori, career, foreign languages, and specialized academic programs. Our Confucius Institute solidifies our are leadership role in Mandarin language and Chinese cultural education. Our international coordinators support our international students academically and emotionally and help them to adjust to and achieve success in their new educational setting. Our graduates are accepted at universities throughout North America and around the world.

Student Spotlight: Franka 🌟

As Franka’s time in Coquitlam comes to an end, we want to thank her for being such a valued member of our international education family.

Originally from Germany, Franka embraced her experience with enthusiasm, made meaningful friendships, and became an important part of her school community. Her hard work, positive attitude, and contributions were recognized when she was selected as one of the Top International Students this year.

We are so grateful that Franka chose Coquitlam for her study abroad experience. We will truly miss having her in our program and school community. While it is never easy to say goodbye, we know she has an exciting future ahead.

Congratulations, Franka, and thank you for being such an amazing part of our program!

🏸 Huge congratulations to Terry Fox Secondary international student Jessica Cho on an incredible achievement at the Coquitlam Senior District Badminton Tournament!

Jessica captured Gold in the singles competition and will now go on to represent the Coquitlam School District at the Fraser North Finals in mid May.

We were fortunate to spend time last week with three wonderful students from our partner school, Tecnológico de Monterrey 🇲🇽

It was great to connect with them and hear firsthand about their journey here in Coquitlam. We’re especially happy to hear they are enjoying their experience at Centennial Secondary School and making the most of their time in Canada 🇨🇦
