My class did this project a couple of years ago. Now we would like to try this again with the new group of Grade 3's. I hope you will consider helping us again.

Dear Fellow Canadians,
We are a Grade 3 class in the rural community of Cookstown, Ontario Canada. We are situated about 40 minutes north of the huge city of Toronto. We are learning about the geography of Canada and what kinds of communities you live in. Specifically we are learning about urban and rural communities. We need your help!
We have a huge map of Canada in our classroom and we are hoping to fill it with postcards from across our unique country. As soon as you can, please send us a postcard from your community and tell us if it is a rural or urban community and please tell us some distinguishing features about where you live. Our address is:

Our last postcards for our project have come all the way from Cambodia! Thanks to all who have passed along our message and to those have sent us mail. You have all helped make our learning fun!

A huge thank you to Amanda Cotton and Cristina Zenato for taking the time to Skype with us about underwater photography and working with sharks while at work in Mexico. Lots of fantastic information and plenty of questions answered. Thanks to Mark who was able to connect us with these great ladies. All of this thanks to our Facebook challenge!!! Opportunity PRICELESS!!!

Most unique postcard so far is from Portugal. It is made of cork! How cool is that?! Thanks Cathy P for sending us mail while on your travels. We have also received 3 postcards from Africa and 1 from Aruba and the Bahamas. Approaching a total of almost 300 pieces of mail!

251 Postcards in total so far!!! Canada is so big and we can say that we have postcards from coast to coast and from North to South.
24 are from outside of Canada and our fan mail world map is expanding daily from UK, Australia, USA, France, Holland......we are so lucky!!

210 postcards! One from the Arctic Red River in Northwest Territories and even Iqualuit the capital of Canada's newest territory, Nunavut. Also a few more for our world map: New Zealand, Holland and Paris are the newest ones.

Here is our art work for rural and urban communities. We have made an urban city line reflecting in the water. Our rural one shows the view looking up through the forest to see the moon while snowing. Enjoy!

104 pieces of mail received during our March Break! We have a busy day ahead of us. Special mention and thanks to Coralie from Prince George, BC for sending us a huge package of goodies, including maps, postcards, newspapers and a great book about pioneer people and places. Ironically pioneers is our next Social Studies unit. We are feeling very lucky today in Cookstown. Thanks fellow citizens!

Picked up 50 postcards from the post office yesterday. We are on March break right now so I got our class mail part way through so my students can follow along during the break too. We now have postcards/ letters from every Canadian province and territory! We have a total of 150 pieces of mail so far! Thank you to all who have taken the time to create/purchase a postcard and send it to us. It really means a lot to us! We are loving learning everyday. Watching my students read your mail and discuss is PRICELESS!

2 overseas postcards for our fan mail bulletin board! We now have a total of 90 postcards. A special thanks to Ellen & Rob from BC and to Mrs. Jefkins in Manitoulin Island for the tremendous effort and so much information that you sent our class.
