Rural Ontario Medical Program - ROMP Since 1988, the Rural Ontario Medical Program (ROMP) has been helping Ontario medical students & residents arrange core & elective rotations in rural Ontar

The mission of the Rural Ontario Medical Program (ROMP) is to deliver quality, comprehensive rural and regional health care education spearheaded by Ontario rural communities. We assist medical students and residents by placing them in core and elective medical rotations throughout the rural regions of Ontario. In addition, we provide teaching opportunities to physicians and those already experienced in the medical field. By becoming a ROMP preceptor, you can make a real difference in the lives and continuing education of medical students and help them develop important skills. Last week, 49 first-year medical students from packed their bags and headed to rural Ontario to experience what rural medicine is all about…and what a week it was!

Across 17 rural communities, uOttawa students had the chance to shadow incredible physicians, roll up their sleeves for hands-on clinical skills, and get a taste of life in a rural community!
