Reading Room

Reading Room Remedial Reading Programs consist of structured, multi-sensory instruction in the development of reading skills, spelling, comprehension, and vocabulary.

The Reading Room offers remedial reading programs for children, teens, and adults who are struggling readers and for students who have been diagnosed with a reading disability. These programs build instruction on the sounds of our language, using strategies that emphasize phonemic awareness, blending and segmenting, and the learning of the alphabetic code. As students move from mastering the decod

ing of simple to complex to multi-syllable words, they reinforce their new skills through reading interesting materials and books at their current level of difficulty. Spelling strategies and vocabulary acquisition are woven into the programs. A special emphasis is placed on developing reading fluency and monitoring reading comprehension. Initial and mid-program assessments help determine the best program for the client and adapt it to meet individual needs. Programs:
Individual, one hour, weekly sessions. Basic Program
20, 32, or 48 sessions for development of basic reading skills at K-3rd grade reading levels. Advanced Program
20 sessions for further development of multi-syllabic word reading strategies & fluency for intermediate, secondary, & adult students. Parental involvement with the homework greatly enhances the progress of both programs and reduces the remediation period.
