Iโve been building, learning, stumbling, adjusting and figuring out online business through social media for more than two decades now.
And trust me... Iโve learned A LOT. ๐
Some lessons were cheap. Others were expensive.
But these three keep coming back again and again.
Nobody wakes up in the morning, grabs their phone and thinks:
โGee, I sure hope somebody explains their compensation plan to me today.
People are thinking about their own lives. Their workload. Their future. Their family. Their uncertainty. Their lack of options. Their desire for more flexibility, more control, stronger preparation, or simply a different path to explore.
So talk about THAT.
Show people you understand where they are before you start explaining where you think they should go. That lesson alone can completely change the way you communicate online.
One of the biggest mistakes I see people make is trying to explain EVERYTHING in one post.
Donโt.
Educate. Share something useful. Tell a story. Teach one lesson. Create curiosity. Then give people one simple next step. ๐ Comment. ๐ฉ Send a message. โ Ask a question.
Thatโs how you move from views and Likes into REAL conversations.
And conversations are where relationships begin. Relationships are where trust grows. And trust is still where good business gets built.
This may be the biggest lesson of all.
Not everyone who follows you today is going to reach out tomorrow. Some people will watch quietly. For weeks. Months. Sometimes much longer.
Theyโll read your posts. Watch how you treat people. See whether you actually know what youโre talking about. Notice whether youโre still here six months from now. And eventually, some of them will decide theyโre ready to ask a question.
Thatโs why consistency matters. Keep showing up. Keep teaching. Keep sharing your story. Keep helping. Keep having REAL conversations with REAL people.
Some people may become customers. Some may eventually become business partners. Some may simply follow along, learn something useful and never buy anything from you.
And you know what? Thatโs perfectly okay.
Your job is to become useful enough, trustworthy enough and consistent enough that when the right person finally says...
โ๐ ๐ง๐๐๐ก๐ ๐โ๐ ๐ฅ๐๐๐๐ฌ ๐ง๐ข ๐๐ซ๐ฃ๐๐ข๐ฅ๐ ๐ฆ๐ข๐ ๐๐ง๐๐๐ก๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐ฅ๐๐ก๐งโฆโ they already know who they want to talk to.
And after more than 20 years of learning this business? One old saying still earns its keep:
So let me ask you:
Which one of these three do YOU think most people get wrong?
They lead with the product.
They explain too much.
They give up too soon.
Put 1, 2 or 3 in the comments โ and tell me why.

Itโs not necessary for you to hate your career. You donโt have to be desperate, either. And you certainly donโt have to blow up the life youโve already built. Sometimes you simply reach a point where you start asking:
โWhat else could I be building alongside this?โ
That question matters. Because a Plan B doesnโt have to begin with panic. It almost always needs to begin with preparation.
A new skill. A modern business pathway. Better systems. Different relationships. A little more knowledge. And another option you can develop steadily over time.
Thatโs the part a lot of people miss. You do not have to abandon ๐๐ฅ๐๐ง ๐ to begin exploring your ๐๐ฅ๐๐ง ๐. You can keep doing what youโre doing... while learning something new on the side, besides.

One of my biggest concerns when I first began exploring online business was TIME.
I already had more than enough on my plate.
Architecture. Construction. Real estate. Business responsibilities. And, most importantly, being a husband, Dad and Grandpa.
Like most hardworking people, my life wasn't sitting around waiting for another project. The last thing I wanted was to build myself another full-time job.
What I eventually discovered was that I didn't necessarily have to. I could begin learning and developing an additional business pathway around the life I already had.
Training could be completed at my own pace.
Much of the learning could happen online.
New digital tools could help organize the work.
Relationships could be developed without being in the same roomโor even the same city.
And I could decide how much time I was prepared to devote on any particular day. Some days, more. Some days, less. That taught me something important:
Looking back, I wish someone had explained that to me much earlier. A Plan B doesn't have to mean blowing up Plan A.
It can begin quietly. An hour of learning. One new skill. One conversation. One small piece of a system. Then another. And another. That's how most worthwhile things are built anyway.
So let me ask you:
What's the biggest thing preventing you from exploring something new right now?
TIME? NOT KNOWING WHERE TO START? TECHNOLOGY? UNCERTAINTY? Something else?

If you pride yourself as a top salesperson like I do, why not join me as a remote, independent Business Partner?
Together, weโll develop a โPlan Bโ online business, with full mentorship, complete step-by-step continually updated training, as well as build a dynamite team to support our outstanding online Plan B business.
Now, let me tell you why I believe that invitation may be worth serious consideration.
Over the years, Iโve learned that the best salespeople are rarely just โgood talkers.โ
They are good listeners. They know how to build trust. They know how to ask the right questions. They know how to follow up. They know how to read people.
And they know that relationships still close more business than flashy gimmicks ever will.
That was true for me in real estate. It was true in traditional business. And it is still true today in the online world.
People still want to deal with someone credible.
Someone steady. Someone who listens. Someone who follows through. Someone who doesnโt disappear the moment things require a little effort.
I believe experienced salespeople, Realtors, entrepreneurs, and commissioned professionals have a much stronger foundation for a Plan B business than they may realize.
Not because thereโs a magic button. โ
Not because success gets handed to anyone. โ
And certainly not because everybody is the right fit. โ
But because if you already know how to communicate, connect, and build confidence in another person, then you are not starting empty-handed.

A few months ago, someone reached out to me about building a Plan B online business.
We went through the whole process together.
โ
The structure
โ
The training
โ
The financing side
โ
The support
โ
The next steps
Then... things went quiet.
No argument. No bad feelings. No drama. She simply disappeared.
Later, I found out she had chosen a different route. A lower-cost route.
Less money upfront... but also less structure, less training, and less built-in support.
And you know what? Thatโs OKAY. ๐
Because different paths can work for different people.
I'm truly not all that interested in having Team White members that need their little bum baby-powdered several times a day, each day, anyway.
Generally, they take a lot more work than they are worth.
But hereโs the part I think a lot of people miss:

For me, having the right people in my corner made a real difference.

Business training
Platform training
Community support
Even extras like Bible studies and workout groups
All of that helped create an environment where I wasnโt just handed something and left to figure it out alone. And that matters.
Because sometimes the โcheaperโ way ends up costing more in:
โณ lost time
๐ confusion
๐ง stalled progress
๐คทโโ๏ธ and trying to reinvent the wheel by yourself
On the other hand, more structure is only valuable if youโre actually going to use it. Thatโs why I believe this always comes down to FIT.

We usually measure technology by price.
$20 a month.
$49 a month.
$99 a month.
Fair enough.
But there is another cost that rarely appears on the invoice.
Fragmentation.
One tool sends notifications.
Another has its own inbox.
Another has messages.
Another has reports.
Another wants daily activity.
Another keeps adding โfeatures.โ
Then email.
Messenger.
LinkedIn.
WhatsApp.
Slack.
Facebook.
Calendar reminders.
Text messages.
AI tools.
Browser tabs.
And before long...
you've built a very sophisticated system for interrupting yourself. ๐
That doesn't mean technology is the problem.
Used properly, technology can create enormous leverage.
Your Business DNA is clear on that point: tools should improve organization, communication, consistency, efficiency and leverage โ but they should not become another source of distraction or overwhelm.
The problem begins when every useful tool assumes it deserves a piece of our attention right now.
Attention doesn't work very well that way.
Deep thinking needs uninterrupted stretches.
Good writing does.
Planning does.
Training someone does.
Listening to a customer does.
Having a serious conversation does.
So lately I've become more interested in what I would call an:
ATTENTION AUDIT.
Not:
โWhat software do I own?โ
But:
โWhat is repeatedly pulling me away from the work that matters?โ
That audit might reveal:
notifications that never needed to be notifications;
platforms checked out of habit;
inboxes that could be reviewed twice daily instead of constantly;
tools performing overlapping jobs;
unnecessary browser tabs;
messages that could wait;
automations generating more administrative work than they save;
or technology we keep using simply because we already paid for it.
There is a strange trap here.
A tool can save five minutes...
and then steal twenty through interruption.
We rarely count that.
Maybe we should.
Because leverage isn't merely doing more things faster.
Sometimes leverage is protecting enough uninterrupted attention to do the right thing properly.
Here's a practical exercise:
For one normal workday, notice every time technology interrupts what you were doing.
Don't fix anything yet.
Just count.
Then ask:
Which of these interruptions actually deserved immediate access to me?
My question for business owners:
What's the biggest digital distraction you've deliberately reduced โ and did your work improve afterward?

One of the things I find most useful about artificial intelligence isn't that it can give me answers.
It's that I can ask it to push back on mine.
That's a completely different use of the tool.
If I already believe something, it is very easy to ask questions that produce a response I like.
Human beings have been doing that long before AI showed up.
We look for agreement.
Confirmation.
Evidence that supports what we already wanted to believe.
AI can make that easier.
And that is not always a good thing.
So I've increasingly found value in asking questions like:
โWhat am I missing?โ
โWhat is the strongest argument against this?โ
โWhere could this fail?โ
โWhat assumptions am I making?โ
โWhat would a skeptical customer think?โ
โWhat could make this sound misleading?โ
โIf you disagreed with me, what would you challenge first?โ
Those questions are useful.
Because the purpose of a good thinking partner isn't to make us feel clever.
It's to make the idea stronger.
I learned a version of that years ago in construction and design.
A good set of plans shouldn't only be admired.
It should be reviewed.
Where's the weak point?
What load did we overlook?
What happens if conditions change?
What does the tradesman see that the designer missed?
Where is the costly assumption hiding?
Nobody benefits when everybody in the room is afraid to challenge the plan.
AI can help with that too.
But only if we invite it to.
Your Business DNA already puts final responsibility exactly where it belongs: AI can assist with strategy, research, content, planning and organization, but it does not replace factual verification, compliance review, personal judgment or human conversation.
That boundary is important.
And so is this one:
AI should not merely reinforce our thinking. It should sometimes make our thinking uncomfortable enough to improve.
That doesn't mean automatically trusting the criticism either.
The tool can still be wrong.
You still verify.
You still judge.
You still decide.
But if we only use AI to polish ideas we already love, we are leaving a lot of its value on the table.

That is a much more interesting partnership.
Here's a practical question for business owners and professionals using AI:
Do you mostly use AI to CREATE โ or do you also use it to CHALLENGE your thinking?
And if you use it to challenge yourself, what's your favourite question to ask?
