Life is Art. Old Quebec - A stone marker names a road built by decree in 1734, a convergence of concepts. A street violinist plays beneath it, his symphony reverberating off the cold stone walls.

Outside his frame of reference, an ambulance responds to a patient's call. Two striking images in a shared frame, unaware of each other's impact.

Training preparedness isn't always the loudest thing in the room; it's often performing in the details that quietly do the work.

Starting today, our work carries a small new seal: Proudly Made by A Human. Preparedness is built on trust, and trust is built by real people. Our training, our tools, our experience, and our community work have always been human hands and human care.

Celebrating Community and the Spirit of Independence.

At AOIFA.org, our communities - their safety, resilience, and future - are why we do this work. Holidays like this remind us of the moments we strive to protect.

Today, we honor the first responders, families, and partner agencies who help strengthen readiness and resilience across our communities.

However you choose to celebrate your July 4th, we wish you moments of joy.

Today, we’re honored to share a powerful conversation from the AOIFA podcast: “Building Pediatric Disaster Resilience with Bobbie Merica” of Moulage Concepts Inc.

As the community of Paradise comes together to celebrate the ribbon cutting of Hope Plaza, a space created to honor lives lost, first responders, and the enduring strength of this town, we’re reminded that resilience is not just about rebuilding structures, but about supporting hearts, families, and especially children.

In this episode, Bobbie Merica shares insights on helping children process trauma and build resilience in the face of disaster, something that deeply resonates with communities like Paradise that continue to heal and grow after the Camp Fire.

Hope Plaza stands as a symbol of remembrance and hope for the future, a place for reflection, connection, and community strength.

Today, we honor Paradise, its families, and all those working to build a more resilient future together. 💙

I saw a post today that said, "What if I don’t feel jolly?"

We have all been there.
Some days, weeks, seasons are like that. If this season feels heavy, you are not alone.

5 quick things you can do to care for yourself today:

Name it.
Acknowledge that you need what you need. Saying “I feel lonely, sad, tired, overwhelmed, VERY unjolly” helps your brain start to process instead of just carrying it.

Take a slower, deeper breath.
Inhale for 4, exhale for 6, a few times. It can calm your nervous system and take the edge off stress.

Step outside for 5–10 minutes.
Even a short walk or standing on the porch for fresh air can improve your mood and clear your head.

Do one tiny comforting thing.
Make tea, put on cozy socks, smell an orange, or listen to a favorite song; if it makes you dance, even better. Small pleasures count as real self-care.

Earplugs...

If this season is hard, you’re not alone. You’re human, and that’s enough.

Dear Reader: Some journeys need extra support; don't hesitate to reach out to a caring professional in your area if you need to.
Your story matters.
