Announcing a Worldwide Photowalk in Historic Downtown Chilliwack.
I am excited to announce that I have been selected as a walk leader of the world’s largest Photowalk, right here in the city of Chilliwack on October 6, 2018. The Photowalk takes place in thousands of cities all over the world that day.
The event is free and all levels of photographers are welcome, from smartphones to DSLRs! Up to 50 can attend.
The Scott Kelby Worldwide Photowalk, dubbed the world’s largest global and social photography event, has grown immensely in size and popularity since the inaugural walk in 2007. Last year, more than 24,000 photographers of all walks of life and skill level converged to explore their corners of the world through photography and social community.
The concept of a Photowalk is simple. Photowalks are created by Walk Leaders in cities all over the world. Walkers meet up at a pre-designated location to spend a few hours socializing, capturing images, and sharing with like-minded people.
In addition to the event, photo walkers will be able to upload their favorite picture for a chance to win prizes like a DSLR, gift cards, apps, and camera bags. A Grand Prize winner and 10 finalists to be selected by Scott Kelby.
Every year, we encourage every photo walker to help support the initiative to “Walk with a Purpose” by donating to the Springs of Hope Orphanage in Kenya! gofundme.com/2018-worldwide-photowalk-donations
Additionally, participants can connect socially before, during and after the event using the hashtag hash tag on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
Details and registration of the photowalk can be found here. http://worldwidephotowalk.com/walk/historic-downtown-chilliwack/

After much soul searching, reflection, deliberation, research, advice, and common sense, I've decided to hold off on any photo walks for the foreseeable future.
There have been a number of large projects that have consumed my time this year and they look to continue for awhile. My photography business continues to grow and exciting new assignments keep coming my way. This does not allow me time to devote to the photo walks in the way in which it deserves.
As much as I would like to keep going with Fraser Valley Photo Walks and help other photographers reach their goals in this manner, I will just have to wish them good luck and hope to see them around or online elsewhere.
There are still so many photo opportunities for me in the Fraser Valley and I will continue to gather images, both by myself and with other photographers whom I've gotten to know.
I am involved with the Heritage Chilliwack Society as a board member. If you have an interest in all things heritage related to Chilliwack I encourage you to come to one of our monthly meetings and see what we're all about.
I also offer guest speaking engagements if you are interested in hearing about Architectural photography, the Chilliwack Heritage Photo Project, or Landscape photography.
For those of you who wish to follow my work or stay in touch, please visit my websites at carstenarnold.com and carmelstudios.ca, and my Facebook Group "Our Chilliwack Heritage" and "The Chilliwack Heritage Photo Project". You will also see my work on occasion on the "Good Life in Chilliwack" Facebook group. I'm on Instagram .
Thank you.

We are considering a different format for the photo walks this year and will be making an announcement on that in the coming weeks. Cheers!

Time to dust off winter and take some more photos! For all the serious amateurs and pros out there. Who would be interested in doing a photo walk and combining it with a post processing lesson in Photoshop? Just gauging interest at this time. Thanks.

FULL MOON NIGHT PHOTOGRAPHY PHOTO WALK!!
This is a unique opportunity to learn the art of night photography and light painting, on a full moon, with a professional photographer. Three locations will be chosen for this event, one in a city environment, a rural, and nature setting.
Carsten Arnold will teach you the basics of night time photographic composition and camera skills in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. This photo walk is suitable for anyone wishing to improve their skills as a photographer with their DSLR, point and shoot or mirrorless camera that has manual settings. You must have a tripod or camera that can shoot in RAW format!
This event is weather and participation dependent. We require a minimum of 4 attendees for this event. If the weather doesn't cooperate we will look at moving the date a few days before or after the actual full moon.
We will meet outside the Garrison Village Waves Coffee 5560 Market Way #1, Chilliwack. There is a washroom available in the coffee shop.
Set aside a late evening to early morning and don't miss this rare opportunity!
