Janeen from Fraser Valley Regional Library (FVRL) is coming to the Sqwá Education Centre (orange-roof building)
If you:
• don’t yet have a library card,
• lost your card, or
• think you might have fines
Drop by between 2:30 PM and 4:00 PM, and Janeen can help get everything sorted out that same day.
If you can bring photo ID great but if not still come, and Janeen will do her best to get you a library card. Children under 13 need to come with a parent/caregiver to get their own library cards.

Library Card Clinic — this Friday!
Good news! Janeen from Fraser Valley Regional Library (FVRL) is coming to the Sqwá Education Centre (orange-roof building) Friday, November 21 for a Library Card Clinic. If you:
• don’t yet have a library card,
• lost your card, or
• think you might have fines
Drop by between 2:30 PM and 4:00 PM, and Janeen can help get everything sorted out that same day.
But that’s not all: Janeen will be back on a future date to show how to access:
• eBooks, DVD, magazines, etc.
• Free streaming services like Kanopy (for movies, TV, and more),
• Plus all the cool stuff you can borrow through FVRL’s Playground program, think: nature packs, birdwatching backpacks, energy meters, puzzle-cubes, bat packs, portable blu-ray players, and more! 
Also, Janeen will also soon be running a coding event for kids (ages 5–8), where they’ll learn to use colours to code and command small Ozobot robots! More details (location, date & time) coming soon.

🌿 Join the Sqwá First Nation Education Committee! 🌿
Are you passionate about supporting education that reflects and uplifts Sqwá’s cultural and traditional values?
The Sqwá First Nation Education Committee (SFNEC) is now accepting applications for new members! This committee plays an important role in guiding educational decisions and opportunities for Sqwá members, grounded in community priorities, cultural teachings, and ancestral knowledge.
Sqwá is looking for a committee consisting of at least five Sqwá members, including:
✅ 1 On-reserve member
✅ 1 Off-reserve member
✅ 1 Elder
✅ 1 Youth (ages 18–27)
✅ 1 Parent with school-aged children
📅 Deadline to Apply: Monday, October 31st at 4:00 PM
**Honorarium provided**
🕓 Commitment: 6 meetings per year, 3-year term
Eligibility: Must be a Sqwá First Nation member, 18+, available for meetings, and able to provide a Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check.
If you’re interested in contributing to education that honours Sqwá knowledge, culture, and community goals, please send a short email describing your interest and experience, to [[email protected]]. Interested applicants will be required to submit an application form. You are welcome to come by the Sqwá First Nation Adult Education Centre to pick one up, or one can be emailed to you.

As the holiday season approaches, we want to wish everyone a safe and joyful holiday filled with peace and happiness. To our hardworking students, enjoy a well deserved break, you’ve earned it!
The Centre will be closed from December 23rd and will reopen on January 6th. For our CDI and Sprott Shaw students, please check directly with your schools to confirm your holiday schedules.

We at the Education Centre were honoured to join Sqwá First Nation’s Truth and Reconciliation Walk this year. From walking the canoe and painting from the Hall to the Cultural Centre before being proudly displayed, to sharing a meal afterward at the Hall, it was deeply meaningful to come together. Truth and Reconciliation Day reminds us all of the need to acknowledge the lasting impacts of residential schools and to honour the resilience, culture, and stories of Indigenous communities. It’s a time to walk together toward healing and understanding, and to take steps towards reconciliACTION, as Chief Johnathon called for that day.
