Sometimes life brings us back to places we hoped we would never return.
Eighteen years ago, I underwent biopsies that led to a mastectomy, chemotherapy, and radiation. This past fall, I found myself undergoing testing again for my other breast.
Being back in a hospital for biopsies brought back many memories — the uncertainty, the waiting, and the decisions that needed to be made.
Suspicious tissue required a lumpectomy. After careful reflection, I chose to also have a preventive mastectomy.
The results came back as Ductal Carcinoma In Situ (Stage 0) with clear margins. I am deeply grateful that I made the choice that felt right for me.
I found that 18 years later, the experience was a little more challenging. The anesthetic was harder on my body and caused moments of stress and even some panic attacks.
What carried me through were the things I have practiced and taught for years — the power of supportive family and friends, and the coping tools that help us regulate our emotions and stay grounded.
Meditation, visualization, and HeartMath® techniques helped me move through some difficult moments.
Experiences like this remind me how important it is to listen to our bodies, trust our inner wisdom, and make the decisions that align with what we know is right for us.
Today I feel grateful — for health, for support, and for the resilience we can build within ourselves.
Sometimes the greatest strength we can show is simply pausing, breathing, and trusting the path that feels right.
If sharing my experience encourages even one person to listen to their body or seek support when they need it, then telling this story is worth it.

Today we celebrate the strength, courage, and wisdom of women everywhere.
Women lead in many ways — as mentors, caregivers, innovators, leaders, and quiet changemakers who uplift those around them. Every act of encouragement, every door opened for another woman, every voice that speaks with courage contributes to a stronger and more compassionate world.
When women are supported, something powerful happens. Confidence grows. Possibilities expand. Communities become stronger.
As we honour women today, may we also commit to creating environments where women are encouraged, respected, and empowered to thrive.
“Here’s to strong women.
May we know them.
May we be them.
May we raise them.”
Take a moment today to recognize a woman who has inspired you, supported you, or helped shape your path.
Together, we rise.

As 2025 comes to a close, we are taking time to pause and reflect on the many adventures and lessons this year has brought.
One of our most profound and meaningful experiences was working for the Justice Institute of British Columbia (JIBC) to deliver Fire Officer programs for the Cree Nation of Eeyou Istchee of James Bay in Northern Quebec. It was truly an honour to work alongside students who demonstrate such deep dedication to their communities, their families, and the continued practice of the traditional Cree way of life.
The learning was reciprocal. While we were there to teach, we were also humbled by how much we learned in return, about leadership, resilience, community responsibility, and the importance of relationships. Experiences like this remind us that the most powerful learning happens when respect, curiosity, and openness are present on all sides.
We are grateful for the trust placed in us and look forward to continuing this vital work and these relationships as we move into the new year.

May this season offer moments to pause, reflect, and reconnect with what matters most.
Warm wishes from all of us at HanMeer Coaching & Training.

Mindful Mondays
"Perfectionism is the art of never being satisfied." — Unknown
Perfectionism often hides beneath the surface of excellence. It can look like high standards, but underneath, it can create constant dissatisfaction, a feeling that no matter how much we do, it’s never enough.
What if we replaced perfection with presence?
When we bring mindfulness into our work and lives, we begin to appreciate progress over perfection. We notice our effort, creativity, and learning, all signs of growth.
This week, try asking yourself:
"What would it feel like to do my best and let that be enough?”
Perfection may strive for flawless outcomes, but mindfulness allows us to find peace in the process.

Feel-Good Fridays
"Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light."
– Albus Dumbledore
We’re big fans of the Harry Potter series, not just for the magic, but for the wisdom woven through its characters.
This quote from the wise Headmaster of Hogwarts reminds us that even in challenging or stressful times, we have the power to choose our perspective. Turning on the light might look like taking a moment of gratitude, offering kindness, or simply pausing to breathe.
At HanMeer Coaching & Training, we believe that cultivating emotional awareness and resilience helps individuals and teams rediscover their own light, especially when things feel heavy.
What helps you “turn on the light” when the week feels dark or demanding?

Mindful Mondays
"Mindfulness means paying attention in a particular way; on purpose, in the present moment, and non-judgmentally." – Jon Kabat-Zinn
As we begin a new week, it’s easy to become caught up in what’s ahead: meetings, deadlines, and expectations. Yet, mindfulness invites us to pause and simply notice what is here, right now.
When we lead and live with presence, we create space for calm, clarity, and connection. Whether it’s a mindful breath before responding to an email, or a moment to appreciate a small joy, these pauses can shift how we experience the entire day.
How might you bring a little more mindfulness into your Monday?
