Calm in the midst of busy
6 weeks out. And life didn’t suddenly get quieter.
Training matters more. Nutrition matters more. Recovery matters more. Sleep matters more.
And at the same time, my professional world is getting busier.
I’m taking on more personal training clients.
Teaching more classes.
Preparing a CEC workshop.
Delivering a 2-day program.
Starting a new group in an 8-week Dale Carnegie program.
Preparing to deliver a custom workshop. And exploring a potential new business partnership.
I have two choices:
😵💫 Get overwhelmed by everything on my plate.
OR
💪 Adapt, plan and deal with what’s actually in front of me.
I’m choosing the second.
I’m surprisingly calm — because instead of thinking about everything I have to do, I’m focusing on:
WHEN does it need to happen?
WHERE does it fit?
HOW am I going to make it work?
My goals haven’t changed.
But the way I organize my days around them has to.
Some workouts may need to happen earlier. Some cardio may need to be split. Meals need to be planned ahead. Recovery needs to actually be scheduled. And some things that aren't a priority right now may simply have to wait.
That’s not losing control.
That’s adapting.
And honestly, this applies to so much more than competition prep.
Life is rarely going to hand you the perfect schedule, the perfect week or the perfect circumstances to work toward your goals.
The skill isn’t creating a life where nothing gets in the way.
The skill is learning how to adjust when it does — without abandoning yourself or your goals.
What do you tend to do when life gets really full — overwhelm, or adapt? 👇

Sometimes the strongest thing you can do is stop. 💛
Today's lesson came during a workout.
One awkward movement.
One strained muscle.
One decision.
I stopped.
Years ago, I would have pushed through. I would have convinced myself that finishing the workout proved I was committed.
Today, I know that isn't strength.
Strength is knowing when pushing forward is helping you... and when it's hurting you.
The funny thing is, this has very little to do with the gym.
How often do we push through:
✨ Exhaustion because we don't want to disappoint anyone.
✨ A relationship that's no longer healthy because we've invested so much time.
✨ A job, habit, or routine that no longer serves us because we're afraid to change.
✨ Physical pain because we don't want to feel like we're "quitting."
We wear "pushing through" like a badge of honour.
But sometimes wisdom sounds different.
Sometimes it says:
"Pause."
"Rest."
"Reassess."
"Heal."
Stopping isn't the same as giving up.
Sometimes stopping is exactly what allows you to keep moving toward the life you want.
Whether it's your health, your career, your relationships, or your mindset, don't be afraid to ask yourself:
Am I moving forward... or am I just forcing my way through?
Your future self will thank you for choosing the path that leads to long-term progress—not just today's victory.
❤️ Have you ever had to stop something that turned out to be the best decision you could have made? I'd love to hear your story below.

You can't pour from an empty cup.
Somewhere along the way, many of us were taught that putting ourselves first is selfish.
So we keep saying yes. We put everyone else's needs ahead of our own. We promise we'll start taking care of ourselves "when things settle down."
But somehow... they never do.
The truth is, making yourself a priority isn't selfish—it's responsible.
When you fuel your body, move it with intention, protect your peace, and give yourself grace, you're not taking away from the people you love. You're showing up as a healthier, happier, more present version of yourself.
Self-care isn't just bubble baths and spa days. It's setting boundaries. It's going to the gym when you don't feel like it. It's choosing the meal that supports your goals. It's getting enough sleep. It's asking for help when you need it.
Because you matter too.
And remember: every time you choose yourself, you're also giving others permission to do the same.
❤️ What's one thing you're going to do for you today? Share it below—I would love to cheer you on.

5 Reasons the Scale Lied to You Today 👇
You stepped on the scale this morning... The number was higher. Your mood shifted. You started questioning everything.
"Did I ruin my progress?" "Should I eat less today?" "Why am I working so hard if the scale won't move?"
Take a deep breath.
The scale isn't measuring fat. It's measuring everything that's in and on your body at that moment.
Here are five common reasons the number jumped overnight:
🧂 1. You had more sodium. Extra sodium causes your body to temporarily hold onto more water. That 2-3 lb increase? It's not body fat.
💪 2. You trained hard. Muscles store glycogen during recovery, and every gram of glycogen is stored with water. A heavier scale after a great workout can actually be a sign your body is recovering.
🌸 3. Hormones are doing their thing. Whether you're in perimenopause, menopause, or still cycling, hormonal changes can dramatically affect fluid balance. This is normal—not failure.
🚽 4. You're constipated. Not glamorous, but true. The contents of your digestive system have weight. Once things get moving, so will the scale.
😴 5. You're stressed or under-slept. Higher cortisol levels can increase water retention. Sometimes the best thing for fat loss isn't more cardio—it's better sleep and stress management.
✨ Remember this: To gain just 1 lb of body fat, you'd typically need to eat about 3,500 calories above your body's needs. That overnight jump almost certainly wasn't fat.
Progress isn't measured by one weigh-in. It's measured by the trends over weeks, your strength, your energy, how your clothes fit, your measurements, and how consistently you keep showing up.
Don't let one number convince you to quit a plan that's working.
💜 Which one of these has fooled you the most? Water retention after a salty meal? A hard workout? Hormones? Let me know in the comments!

Balance isn't doing the same thing every day. It's making choices that fit your goals.
This afternoon I'm heading out to support my husband's band at a Stampede event. 🤠❤️
I'm 11 weeks out from my WNBF competition, so my choices today will reflect that.
I'll be there for the music.
The people.
The fun.
The memories.
And I'll be sticking to my nutrition plan.
Now, if I wasn't in prep?
I'd probably be making a trip to the Stampede grounds to hunt down some of the gluten-free treats, maybe enjoy a drink, and soak up all the once-a-year food that makes Stampede... Stampede.
Not because I "deserve" it.
Not because it would be a cheat meal.
Simply because it would fit my goals in that season.
That's the difference.
A healthy lifestyle isn't about saying no forever.
It's about knowing when to say yes, when to say not today, and feeling good about both decisions.
Too many women believe they have to choose between enjoying life and reaching their goals.
You don't.
You just have to stop making every choice mean something about your worth.
Today, my goal is the stage.
In a couple of months, my choices will look different.
Neither version of me is "better."
They're simply aligned with the season I'm in.
That's what breaking the self-sabotage cycle looks like.
Not perfection.
Not restriction.
Just intentional choices that support the life you're creating.
No matter where you live, chances are there's an annual fair, festival, or event that comes with those once-a-year treats. 🎡🌭🍦
What's your favourite annual event where you live... and what's the one treat you look forward to every year?

Discipline gets a bad reputation—it sounds harsh, rigid, like punishment.
But real discipline isn't about forcing yourself to suffer.
It's about loving yourself enough to do the things that support your wellbeing, even when you don't feel like it.💕
It's time to reframe discipline as an act of self-respect and discover how structure can actually create more freedom. ✨️

Tomorrow, I get to be the beginner.
After completing my training and practicing with the other instructor trainees, tomorrow I'll be teaching my very first live group cycle class. I'll have a mentor instructor with me, but it's my first real class.
Am I excited?
Absolutely.
Am I prepared?
Absolutely.
Am I nervous?
Also absolutely.
It's funny how our minds work. I've spent years coaching clients, leading workshops, speaking to groups, and helping others build confidence.
Yet here I am... feeling those familiar butterflies.
The difference isn't that I don't get nervous anymore.
The difference is that I don't let nerves make the decision.
Because confidence doesn't come before you do the hard thing.
It comes because you did it.
I tell my clients all the time that growth happens outside your comfort zone.
Tomorrow, I get to live that lesson myself.
So if you've been waiting to feel "ready" before you join the gym, sign up for the class, start the business, apply for the job, or make that change...
This is your reminder:
You don't have to feel ready.
You just have to be willing to begin.
Wish me luck tomorrow! 🚴♀️💚
I'd love to know...
When was the last time you did something for the very first time? Or what's something you've been putting off because you don't feel "ready" yet?
Tell me below—I promise you're not the only one with butterflies. 🦋

✨️The Customer Service Lesson✨️
Today's reminder that not every problem is made harder by the problem itself.
Sometimes it's the process.
You know the kind...
One question.
"Okay, let me check."
A few minutes later...
Another question.
"Okay, let me look into that."
Meanwhile, you're thinking, "Why not ask me everything you need upfront so we can solve this in one conversation?"
It got me thinking...
How often do we do the same thing in our own lives?
We focus on the next tiny step instead of stepping back and asking, "What information do I actually need to solve this?"
Whether it's customer service, coaching, work, or our health, gathering the full picture first saves time, frustration, and repeated effort.
But here's the important part...
Seeing the whole picture doesn't mean tackling everything at once.
It means understanding where you're going before you start.
Then you simply take it one step at a time.
That's exactly how I work with my clients.
Before we talk about nutrition, workouts, habits, or mindset, we take the time to understand the whole picture—your goals, your lifestyle, your challenges, your strengths, and what's really keeping you stuck.
Only then do we create a plan.
And from there?
One step at a time.
No overwhelm.
No trying to fix everything overnight.
Just consistent, intentional progress that actually lasts.
The lesson?
Get the whole picture first. Then take one step at a time.
💬I'd love to hear from you...
What's one area of your life where you've been trying to solve problems one step at a time without first looking at the bigger picture?
Share it in the comments. And if you're ready to stop guessing and start with a plan that fits your whole picture, send me a message. I'd love to help you break the cycle. 💚
