standards.

Job Summary:
The childcare cook position is responsible for all duties relating to the purchasing, preparation and serving of all snacks and meals relating to the childcare centre. The cook is also responsible for the housekeeping duties of the kitchen, and requires a keen
awareness of Public Health requirements.
Hourly rate ranges from $17.40 – $18.99

You’ll be responsible for:
Payroll and Benefits Administration

Kids’ Stuff…the Family Learning Centre on the Thames provides early learning and childcare for children aged three months to thirteen years. Kids’ Stuff is a charitable organization licensed by the Ministry of Education with 5 locations and 45 employees. The Finance Coordinator will be employed at the head office, located at 520 McNaughton Avenue. The position hours will be 8:30 – 5:30, Monday – Friday, with a one-week closure in the summer and a two-week closure over the Christmas holidays. The position is a 2-year contract with the potential to develop into a permanent position. The successful candidate will earn $52,000 - $56,000 per year, depending on experience.
Responsibilities:
Payroll and Benefits Administration
• Maintain and update employee information, such as records of employee attendance, leave and overtime to calculate pay and benefit entitlements, using manual or computerized systems
• Prepare, verify and process all employee payroll related payments, including regular pay, benefit payments, and special payments such as wage stabilization grant and vacation pay
• Complete, verify and process forms and documentation for administration of benefits
• Prepare payroll related filings and supporting documentation, such as year-end tax statements, Records of Employment and other statements or information required by CRA or Service Canada
• Provide information on payroll matters, benefit plans
• Prepare and balance period-end reports and reconcile issued payrolls to bank statements
• Identify and resolve payroll discrepancies
• Process new employees, promotions, and terminations.
• Reconcile payroll register, investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies, maintain and update payroll records.
• Monthly reconciliation of premiums paid the Employer Health Tax (EHT) and others as required.

Accounts Payable and Receivable
• Prepares work to be accomplished by gathering and sorting invoices, statements and related information.
• Track and process all GST receivable submissions.
• Reviews and confirms accuracy and receipt of goods, codes and submits invoices to the Executive Director for approval.
• Pays invoices by verifying transaction information, scheduling, preparing disbursements, and obtaining authorization of payment.
• Administers and processes all petty cash including balancing and reconciliation.

• Maintains financial security by following internal accounting controls.
• Secures financial information by completing database backups.
• Maintains the financial file management and record keeping system.
Financial Reporting
• Identify and analyze business transactions.
• Post transactions in journal, ledger, record adjusting entries.
• Prepare the adjusted trial balance and post-closing trial balance.
• Prepares monthly and quarterly financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends.
• Preparing monthly financial statements to be reviewed with ED, presented to the board of directors, comparing current year to previous year.
Budgeting
• Develops annual operational budget in collaboration with the Executive Director.
• Monitor budgets and prepare final reports for all special functions.
Audit
• Prepares year-end working papers and information as required by auditors.
• Supports the annual audit process.
• Post, back up and print all entries for use by auditors
• Attend Board meetings as required and present reports
Funding Reconciliation
• Reconciles various municipal funding grants in collaboration with the Executive Director.
• Reconciles fee subsidy payments received to internal financial systems.
Other duties as assigned
• Responsible for the development and implementation of financial policies, procedures or processes.
Qualifications:
• Post-secondary education in Business, Accounting or Finance.
• A minimum of two years' accounting or finance experience in a service-oriented environment.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
• Current standard first aid and CPR level C
• Satisfactory police record check

• Solid working knowledge of MS Office including Word, Excel, Outlook.

Job Summary
Provide a care and education program for young children and their families in a group
setting under the direction of the centre’s supervisor.
Job Duties
1. Plan, implement and review children’s experiences in accordance with the centre’s
philosophy and program goals and the resource guide “How Does Learning
Happen, Ontario’s Pedagogy for the Early Years”.
• Provide a daily balance of active/quiet, indoor/outdoor, and individual/group
activities.
• Establish and carry out daily schedule that incorporates child-directed activity,
care routines and transition times.
• Organize space, equipment and materials prior to activities.
• Assist children in expressing themselves by listening and responding with
questions or comments that extend conversations.
• Use a variety of teaching techniques including modeling, observing, questioning,
demonstrating, reinforcing and bridging.
• Set up daily routines to take advantage of embedded learning opportunities.
• Plan and carry out experiences that promote children’s understanding of their
own and other’s culture and value system.
• Plan and carry out activities that promote problem-solving play (pretend play,

• Follow the centre’s procedures for maintaining health records, hygienic routines,
universal precautions, and administering medication and first aid.
• Report all accidents, injuries and illnesses to the supervisor or designate and
record such incidents in the daily log, playground log, and as a serious
occurrence, if necessary.
• Monitor the indoor and outdoor environments for hazards.
• Update daily on children’s allergies and other special conditions.
• Establish enjoyable daily eating routines.
• Attend to children’s physical needs for diapering, toileting, eating and sleeping,
with respect and as promptly as possible.
• Report all incidents of suspected child maltreatment.
• Release children only to persons authorized by the parents/guardians.
5. Encourage and support active family involvement.
• Seek out opportunities to recognize and respect family’s child rearing practices
and expert knowledge about their children.
• Complete daily information sheets appropriate for the age group.
• Discuss the program’s daily events with family member at drop-off and pick-up
