Feeling all the love today during our second to last day of Ponder Bugs! Hugs for kitties, hugs for each other and collaborative, inclusive, play that everyone engaged in.

🚩The simple introduction of some scarves lent a strong pull towards pirate ship play today. We had rescue ropes, fishing buckets, a crowsnest and of course pirate flags! 🏁It was whimsical watching the bugs twirl their flags around, totally lost in the wave and flutter of the scarf.
🚔The play shifted to police play and I heard clear consensual language being practiced (oh my heart ♡!)
"Do you want to go to jail?"
"No"
"Okay. Who wants to go to jail!?"
"I do!"
"Okay I'm going to handcuff you."
"I was bad because I ..." the two reasons you could go to jail were for killing spiders 🕷 and other bugs or for skate boarding 🏂Who knew the laws were so strict at outdoor school! 😂

🐜 The Ponder Bugs song! 🐌
I wrote this back in May 2018. These kids are so good at it now they dont need my help at all! (video is a month old).

whatever shall I ponder?
There'll be rocks and bees
and ponderosa trees,
there'll be wind and sand,
that slips through my hand.
There'll be friends and flowers

Then we start to play,

(Sorry- had to edit and repost) Made some animal track stamps for the Ponder Bugs Nature Education. 🐾 Need to fix the coyote one somehow, the middle isnt filling in, but I think the rest look great and can be used for a lifetime!

They loved using them and matching them to their animals or making paths to follow. Now I need to make a few more, deer, racoon, mouse?🦌

Colllaborative marble art - made possible by some team work! Dip the marbles in paint then put them in a box, Rubbermaid or in this case a large tray and let kids roll them around! In this case it took a little stabilizing efforts from both kids to try keeping the marbles on - a super fun and engaging process!

Saw this on a local educator's page and thought it was worth reposting - always looking for new ways to rephrase requests or redirect behaviour through positive action statements. Thanks Sekwaw Matthew for sharing a similar philosophy of treating children with dignity!

Dream come true! 🏕 We have our very own wall-tent as a sheltered space for those inclement weather days, thanks to Blair Acton from @.
We made a mini fire and did a cedar smudge to cleanse the musty smell and make it our special space, made wreath decorations and tied them together to symbolize our connectedness and did some sensory play with colorful ash and snow berries.

There is so much joy in a good scooch down a hill! 😄 Wearing rainpants and being brave allows kids to try new ways of locomotor movements - up and down slopes, around and over logs, jumping, climbing, balancing... They develop their muscle mass, bone density, core strength, there are many physical dimensions to playing outside Nevermind the sense of adventure, pride, shared silliness, and self-determination - this was totally kid-led! . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

What beautiul days! 🍃 As the leaves begin to change, we are inspired, and are on a colour kick! Mixing paint, making rainbows, noticing colours in the landscape and topping cute little inky caps with bright beads! 🍂. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
