The Library team is looking forward to welcoming UPEI campus community members and visitors to our newly-renovated spaces, including the main lobby and adjoining all-gender washrooms, the central staircase, and the upper landing. Thanks to the efforts of the project contractors and UPEI Facilities Management (Capital Projects), work has been progressing well, though there have been a few delays. The full library reopening is now scheduled for Monday, September 21st.

Since May, the Library has been operating a temporary service point in Library Annex classroom 235, from 9 AM - 5 PM, Monday-Friday, and this will continue through Friday, September 18th.

McMillan Hall in the W.A. Murphy Student Centre, when not being used for a scheduled event, can be used as a student study space. Check out the new UPEI Support Services Campus Map, created by UPEI Welcome Week and the UPEI Student Services team; the green icons on this map highlight buildings offering student study spaces (link in our bio).

The Library team will continue our efforts to minimize the impacts of renovation work, but there have inevitably been some disruptions for both ourselves and our users, and we thank everyone for their patience and understanding. We are excited that we will soon be able to welcome everyone to our rejuvenated student and public spaces!

New Brunswick artist Claude Roussel was commissioned to make a bronze bust of L.M. Montgomery (LMM) in 1962 for Prince of Wales College’s Montgomery Hall. Now residing in Robertson Library’s University Archives and Special Collections, this bust was based on a studio photograph of LMM that was taken in 1902 when she was 28 years old.

This week, the LMM bronze bust made a trip to the Confederation Centre of the Arts, where it will be displayed in the theatre foyer during its 2026 theatre season. In this photo, Jill McRae and Gerald Beaulieu from the Confederation Centre get ready to roll LMM out for her journey downtown.

Kaisa Ranta recently travelled from Finland to attend her first L.M. Montgomery Institute Conference.

While here, she donated beautiful editions of her Finnish translations of Montgomery's three Emily books, which have been added to the Montgomery research collections housed at Robertson Library.

Photo: Librarian Simon Lloyd accepted these books from Kaisa Ranta on behalf of Robertson Library.
