Applications are now open for our 2026–2027 Still Visible program! 💜

Still Visible is a peer-support group for senior women (including trans women, gender non-binary and genderqueer folks) ages 55+ in the Charlottetown area.

The group creates space to build meaningful connections, reduce social isolation, and explore topics like gender, leadership, shared experiences and aging.

📅 Meetings will take place twice a month from October 2026 to March 2027 in Charlottetown. Dates/times and location will be finalized in the coming weeks.

Like so many across PEI’s community sector, Women’s Network PEI is feeling the enormous loss of Marie Burge.

Marie was one of those incredible Islanders who contributed to so much positive change in this province. She embodied the values she fought for every day, in ways both big and small. Through decades of organizing and activism, Marie remained open-hearted, while always steadfast in her commitment to justice and to making life better for others.

Marie wouldn’t have wanted to be viewed this way, but she was a giant in our community. She inspired, supported and affirmed generations of activists and community organizers across PEI. She showed up, shared what she knew, encouraged others in their work, and reminded us that meaningful change is possible when we keep working together.

Women’s Network PEI has had the privilege of collaborating with Marie and Cooper Institute in many ways over the decades, most recently as members of the Working Group for a Livable Income. Marie was a relentless advocate for a Guaranteed Livable Income and for the simple but radical idea that everyone deserves enough to live with dignity.

We will continue that work because a Guaranteed Livable Income for all is a no-brainer in 2026 — and because continuing to fight for it feels like an open-ended love letter to Marie Burge, and to all the other giants in our community who quietly and persistently work to make things better, not for recognition, but because they believe deeply in our collective responsibility to one another.

Super exciting opportunity with PEI Advisory Council on the Status of Women!

We are hiring a part-time Research Coordinator!

The Research Coordinator at the PEI Advisory Council on the Status of Women is an individual who is passionate about promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment, has excellent research skills, and has a strong background in community information for public education.

This position plays a crucial role in supporting the Council’s research initiatives. The Research Coordinator works closely with the Council members and community partners to conduct community-based research, analyze data, and develop evidence-based recommendations and reports, and media and public communication.

This position pays $30-$32 an hour starting wage, plus health and pension benefits, supportive workplace policies, and paid sick days and vacation.

Trade HERizons is a no-cost, full-time training program for women and gender-diverse individuals who are interested in exploring careers in the skilled trades and technology. No previous experience is required—just a willingness to learn and try something new.

Throughout the program, you'll gain:

We're excited to open registration for our upcoming Wen-Do Training this September in Charlottetown.

Wen-Do is a 2-day self-defense and empowerment training for women and gender-diverse people ages 16-70. No previous self-defense experience is needed. All experience levels are welcome.

Through discussion, movement, voice practice, and practical self-defense techniques, participants will build confidence, strengthen personal safety skills, practice setting boundaries, and connect with others in a supportive, inclusive environment.

📅 Two cohort options:
• September 12–13
or
• September 14–15

Light refreshments and food are provided. If the registration fee is a barrier, please reach out and we'll do our best to accommodate you.

In case you haven't heard.. after 9 amazing years, Jill Olscamp is moving on from Women's Network!

Jill started as a program facilitator in the Propelle program in 2017. After a few years facilitating Propelle and Trade HERizons, Jill took on the role of Program Coordinator. Even though Jill spent most of her years at WNPEI on the Trade HERizons program, Jill was an integral part of Women's Network team as a whole. No matter what she had on her plate, she was always lending a hand to anyone who needed it.

If you've been lucky enough to know Jill in any capacity either professionally or personally, you can attest for her warmth, her steadfastness, her kindness and her genuine desire to provide care for those around her. Jill is the coworker that makes each day in the office a little brighter - being around her brings you joy. Women's Network PEI is stronger because of Jill, and so are all of us who had the privilege of working with her.

Jill, thank you for your years of dedication, passion and the difference you’ve made. Women's Network won't be the same without you but your legacy lives on in the systems you've built, the relationships you've nurtured, and paths you've helped create. We wish you nothing but success in this next chapter. 💜
