The two-year Wildlife Conservation Technology program trains students as wildlife technicians to work in the field of fish and wildlife conservation. The program deals with a variety of field, laboratory, and classroom activities designed to familiarize students with the practical and theoretical aspects of wildlife conservation. Profanity, rude remarks, advertising, spam and other offensive posts will be removed and reported, so please keep it clean!

Our first years finished off the semester with their spring field camp and Advanced Wilderness and Remote First Aid training. It was a great week! We would like to wish them all a great summer and lots of cool wildlife sightings 😎🐾

On Friday our first-years headed back to the streams to collect their macroinvertebrate samplers (and of course squeezed in a bit of birding 😁). Later this week, they will be looking at these samples under a microscope to see what they've collected!

Today we looked at different methods for aging mammals using their teeth!🦷

Today the first-years learned how to propagate African violets using leaf stem cuttings. These cuttings will be monitored over the next several weeks to compare different treatments and rooting mediums (soil vs water). Stay tuned for the results! 🌱

Our first-year class spent a couple of days in the lab cleaning preparing these muskrat skulls. They turned out great!

Our first-year wildlife students have visited all kinds of different habitats this fall to learn about and collect a wide variety of plants. We have visited forests, fields, beaches, bogs, and everything in between! 🌲🌳🌿 We also got to see some neat critters along the way.
