Are you looking for a full-time job in the summer?

We would like to congratulate ACLC student Cristian Ho for winning last month's ACLC logo contest. The logo consists of the elements of the short form "ACLC," and the mint green color represents tranquility to many people.
We'd like to thank everyone who submitted their artwork and our judges for taking the time out of their busy schedules to decide on a winner.
Stay tuned for more contests like these in the fall. Till then, have a great summer, everyone! โ๏ธ

We're excited to announce that ACLCโs new Practitioner in Residence Leslie MacLean will be joining us in-person this Friday, 11 March. She'll be talking to students about her dynamic career as a federal public servant and her thoughts on leadership and work in a post-pandemic time.
Join ACLC 3060 โPutting Arts to Workโ on Friday morning (9:30-10:45am) for a session open to all ACLC students.
How did a rural English Literature student from PEI achieve so much in some of the most critical leadership spaces in the nation's capital? From her family homestead in West Prince PEI to central positions of power in Ottawa and around the world, Leslie will tell her story of leadership, challenge, and opportunity.
Then, sign up for a โCoffee/Tea with Leslieโ on Friday afternoon (between 1:30-4pm), if you would like to chat with Leslie at the Fox & Crow, either 1-on-1 or with a friend. We will send you a follow-up poll so you can choose a time and indicate if youโll be bringing along another student.
Sign up for either or both sessions using the link below! ๐

Dudley Laws was a civil rights activist born in Jamaica and migrated to Canada in 1965. As a civil rights activist, he called out a lot of what was wrong with the Canadian justice system at the time, specifically the racial biases towards black people.
In 1988, after the fatal shooting of Lester Donaldson by Toronto police, he co-founded the Black Action Defense Committee (BADC) along with Charles Roach, Sherona Hall, and Lennox Farrell. The BADC was an organization calling for an end to โpolice investigating policeโ in suspected cases of police wrongdoing.
As an immigration consultant in the 1980s and 1990s, Laws advocated for immigrants from the Caribbean and refugees. He also helped establish the Black Youth Community Action Project and supported changes to benefit Black inmates in the prison system.
Dudley Laws was called the โVoice of the Voiceless, โand his impact on Canadian history will never be forgotten.

And indeed, she did...
From becoming the first Black American to serve as California's Attorney General to being appointed as the first female Vice President of the United States, Here are 3 things about Kamala Harris you probably didn't know about:
โ She visited India as a child and was heavily influenced by her grandfather, a high-ranking government official who fought for Indian independence, and grandmother, an activist who traveled the countryside teaching impoverished women about birth control.
โ One of her signature accomplishments as attorney general was creating Open Justice, an online platform to make criminal justice data available to the public. The database helped improve police accountability by collecting information on the number of deaths and injuries of those in police custody.
โ She's an enthusiastic cook who bookmarks recipes from the New York Times cooking section and has tried almost all the recipes from Alice Waters' The Art of Simple Food. Her go-to dinner entree is a simple roast chicken. Simple, wouldn't you say?
Next week, we will be featuring another revolutionary leader whose work is shaping history today. Who do you think it is? Let us know in the comments below.
