Charlottetown Piano Lessons with Helen Holman

I am devastated at the loss of my mother Helen. Such a long successful career teaching music on the island, that she enjoyed so much. I know she would want to thank all of her wonderful piano students through the years, children and adults alike, for the cherished time they got to spend together. It really brought so much joy to her life, and I’m sure to many of theirs as well. Learning music is truly a gift she would say.

Paying tribute to a wonderful colleague, Helen B. Holman, who passed away on March 17, 2025. A charter member of the PEI Registered Music Teachers Association, Helen and I shared many long and meaningful conversations about piano pedagogy and successful music business practices. She was an avid learner, possessed a wealth of knowledge, and was an exuberant force in any social environment. I always admired her stylish air and her unwavering high standards in music education. Her youthfulness energy was infectious. A graduate of the The Royal Conservatory of Toronto, she studied piano with the acclaimed pedagogue, Alberto Guerrero, who was also Glenn Gould's piano teacher. Pictured here is our PEIRMTA 25th anniversary celebration where we received certificates from Her Honour, Antionette Perry (then Lieutenant Governor of PEI) for having been members since the incorporation of the organization in 1995. Amazing that she continued teaching piano right up to age 90. (Helen is on the far Left of photo.) I cherish my memories with Helen, and know that the angels in Heaven are now being well-entertained! I was also fortunate through the years to regularly play with the PEI Symphony Orchestra, and do Atlantic Canadian piano duet tours!

It’s such a joy every year during the holidays, to receive lovely cards and thank you’s from present and past piano students ❤️ It’s very meaningful to me as a long time piano teacher in Charlottetown PEI, to think that my lessons had a positive effect on these many music students throughout the years.
